It's that time again, Tshirts. Opinions wanted...
Lets see how many likes we can get on this layout. We want to offer some more "in style" colors, we are thinking dark purple, sapphire blue and black. Here is the purple design. Also, if you are at SBN, hunt us down, you will get a free shirt while supplies last "Like" (right hand side of post) this post if you like the design!2 points

Very interesting component option.
2 pointsLooks like a bunch of audiophile nonsense marketing to me. The active crossover in their component set isn't active in the sense we typically think of or use. The crossover points and slopes are still fixed in their comp set, not variable like we are used to seeing in active crossovers. Which means it suffers from the exact same limitations and restrictions as a passive crossover in that the crossover design does not consider the specific installation and acoustics of the vehicle. The only difference is where the crossover is located in the signal chain. They completely overemphasize the importance of damping factor in the amplifier description. Not to mention they completely neglect to mention the most significant factor in the low effective damping factor of any amplifier.....the Re of the speaker itself. In the tweeter section they fail to consider the fact that a zobel network can be added to a passive crossover to effectively flatten the impedance curve. And I fail to see how being active allows the tweeter to play any lower, that statement doesn't even make sense. Though 1.4khz with a small format tweeter is pretty aggressive, I'd be interested in seeing a distortion and FR plot of the tweeter. And the second statement they make about the tweeter being placed higher, while debatable, can be realized with any component set so I fail to see how that makes them unique. For the mids, their statement that passive crossover component sets allow the mid the play into their break up region is nonsensical. Certainly there are comp sets out that allow this to happen, but that's a function of the selected crossover point and slope and has nothing to do with the fact that they use a passive crossover. And frankly, I find the following statement to be insulting: Apparently they underestimate and/or lack any respect for the amount of research, testing, measuring and tuning we perform to maximize performance of our "contraptions". Sure, it's interesting. But I would hardly say I see much of anything to be impressed with. Appears to be nothing but marketing babble aimed at audiophiles with more money than knowledge.2 points

icon 12 or xcon 12
1 pointI think you'd be plenty happy with the Icon. You would be getting a great subwoofer and saving some coin in the process.1 point

Need help on power
1 pointI don't believe in telling the OP to buy a bunch of shit he may not need, just to cover all the bases. Yes he will need to upgrade his electrical supply to properly power the amp, and keep it from burning up, but since I don't know exactly how many batteries he needs, I'd rather offer the advice of checking the voltage with the HO alt and battery, then start adding one battery at a time until the voltage is sufficient. Instead of simply saying go buy xxx amount of batteries.1 point

1 pointWe drove that in the diesel. I actually recorded this mofo in front of us swerving all over the place. Fucker was shaving, and fixing up his hair. We'd watch him swerve to the other lane, and scare the shit out of on-coming traffic. Sent the video in to a local police department, who knows if they did anything.1 point- OG Blue cone Boob Cap Icon 10
1 pointGreat sub...I do have a question though. I bought the sub from my son.....he bought it here. We built a 1.35 cube box tuned to 32 hz according to the reccommended box designs. I have been running it off a Usacoustics USA 2150 bridged rated for 500 watts. Probobly a little more than that......It has sounded incredible. I had the pleasure of recently aquiring an ESX Q275.2. Bridged rating is 800 watts. Am I getting close to the power handling of this sub? I have tried to find specs on the original run of Icons but have had no success.1 point- Need help on power

1 pointOk thanks. What does your Voltage read, and how much watts are you drawing from the amp? usually anywhere from 14-15 volts. Might go down to 13.2 or so on heavy, and I mean heavy bass. As for how much the amps putting out? I don't know, hasn't been clamped by me but I'll guess anywhere from 5500-6k1 point- Now Authorized Boston Acoustics Dealer
Looking at the specs these are looking more and more interesting. Kinda pondering the GT-2300 for some sub duty.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 point1 point- Sealing off trunk from cabin
1 pointDepends on the space between the enclosure and opening. Foam may not be needed, and a secure trim piece could suffice. On the flip side, the foam may be very helpful in filling up large voids. I've never messed with a trunk. Just thoughts, I thought of.1 point- Sealing off trunk from cabin
1 pointYep, I would make beauty panels then foam behind it everywhere. If you want a true sealed trunk you will need lots of expanding foam1 point- Sealing off trunk from cabin
1 point- Sealing off trunk from cabin
1 pointYou could mask off the area, push the box into position (mask off the box too), and spray expanding foam. Pull box out, sand down the excess foam, put box back in, and make a trim panel to go around.1 point- Sealing off trunk from cabin
1 point- What Features Should Be In A "Good Build"
Number one thing to make sure is that it'll go back to factory and you can access components without having to dissassemble everything like if a sub blows you don't want it to take 10 hours of removing panels just to switch out the sub1 point- It's that time again, Tshirts. Opinions wanted...
1 point- ssa at dealers
1 pointWe (SSA) are in the grey area as a lot of shops don't want to carry SSA, because they 2x - 3x the margin we can offer. Most shops don't care about quality, and don't feel they should pay for it unless a name like Zapco or JL is on the front. So we have been growing, dealer wise, more organically with smaller shops and some competitors who are not about huge margins and pushing product on people, but more so enthusiasts that care about audio and understand about doing it right the first time. This way is much slower in terms of growing as a brand, but with a great product and honest people who love it, it is much better overall in my opinion.1 point - Welcome to the IHoP
