  1. I know Stefan and a few other's asked about my Tuesday. I got my request from the administrative review board. I will be allowed to stay in, and move forward towards medical retirement. Hopefully it won't take long, but I know how this process goes. Either way I am ready to deal with what I have to do. One monkey off my back, and about four more to go. Thanks for the support guys!!! J
  2. Four ghosts = the weekends in October!
  3. Earlier this year I decided to purchase a Zed Leviathan. Having owned many of Zed Audio built amplifiers in the past, purchasing a new one was a no brainer. When I received the package from UPS, it was wrapped in heavy cardboard paper. Upon removing the paper, I found a plain white box. Opening the box everything was arranged nice and neatly inside. The amplifier was contained in plastic and protected by foam padding. Along with the amplifier comes the product manual on CD (most economical way since the manual is 70+ pages long) and a small bag containing allen wrenches, mounting feet, and screws. Taking the amplifier out of the plastic, its design is simplistic yet stunning. A Plexiglas cover on top allows view into the components of the amplifier. Everything on the amplifier is arranged nicely. Power, ground, REM, and speaker terminals are all on one side. On the other are all the RCA’s, crossover, and filter settings. Installation was easy and connecting everything went smoothly. The first few times I listened to music with the Leviathan, it would turn off during “dead time” in music and then take a second to turn back on. I would miss the beginning of music or if there was pause in the track it would shut off. This was frustrating at first but reading through the manual, it comes from the factory with an auto turn on setting. This can be changed to manual by removing the cover and simply moving a jumper. All the instructions to complete this are located in the manual. The Leviathan exceeded my expectations in the listening area. I listen to all types of music and it does great with all of them. Being a class D amplifier, it does not have any of the high frequency noise or harshness like other class D amplifiers do. From the Zed Audio Site: Specifications Rated power is 190 watts x 6 into 4 ohm or 300w x 6 into 2 ohm. Bridged power is 380w x 3 into 8 ohm or 600w x 3 into 4 ohm. The 3 pairs of channels are independently bridgeable. Two, four or six input configuration. Channels 1+2 feature a 24dB per octave Linkwitz Riley High crossover. Channels 1+2 can run in FLAT mode (Pre-amplifiers completely bypassed), High Pass or Low Pass from channels 5+6. Channels 3+4 feature 24dB per octave Linkwitz Riley High and Low Pass crossovers. Channels 3+4 can run in FLAT mode (Pre-amplifiers completely bypassed), High Pass, Low Pass or Bandpass or Low Pass from channels 5+6. . Channels 5+6 feature feature 24dB per octave Linkwitz Riley High and Low Pass crossovers. Channels 5+6 can run in FLAT mode (Pre-amplifiers completely bypassed), High Pass, Low Pass or Bandpass. The High Pass crossover doubles as a subsonic filter as it is able to respond down to 10Hz. [*]LEVIATHAN Is well suited to running a multitude of different systems from simple 4 satellite/sub woofer type to tri and quad amped systems. Level controls accommodate input levels up to 8.6v RMS. Pre-amplifiers utilize a fully isolated power supply for zero ground loops. Pre-amplifiers drive the main amplifiers in a fully balanced mode. Class D amplifiers utilize high-speed high current low gate charge MOSFETs. Fully regulated power supply delivers power independent of battery voltage. There are a total of seventeen regulated power supplies. The power supply utilizes twelve 110 amp MOSFETs in a source follower configuration for maximum bandwidth. Low ESR 105°C capacitors are used in the power supply. Very high efficiency owing to the smart power supply. Tiffany RCA's with Teflon inserts are used for ultimate quality and reliability. 4. so thanks to all the guys at ssa. i love my gcon in my van really pushes the air i love it so much i decided to order a twin! haha. but ill be having 2 gcons in there. cant wait to see what kinda damage we can do! thanks again everyone!
  5. New direction again, Changing enclosure just a tad. Will be able to up thr cone size. Subs changed up too. A deal found me. Will be getting the new subs in about three weeks or sooner.
  6. Awesome I will definitely be visiting once I finally get back there!
  7. That's some amazing work you guys do. You're not just making some creepy scenes, it's its own twisted world.
  8. Loves me some Halloween, great props, awesome work.
  9. My experience with my 2 15" Icons after a couple days is that they are already on steroids, they get crazy loud and DESTROY the lows but still have a nice tight response and sound good on country or rock as well as rap or decaf. Im very happy with the subs and would definitely recommend them.
  10. Oh hell yeah!!! Great pics Neal!!!!
  11. Good times!!! I'm ready to start a new build
  12. We've had lots of positive feedback on it pretty well across the board. A few things to keep in mind : 1) It's still an 8" woofer. So it's not going to out-perform a well installed comparable quality 12" woofer. 2) The main reason to get one is for a SMALL ported box; 0.5-0.75 per driver is perfect. This in mind it is somewhat difficult to install ONE of them unless you go with a PR as the port gets pretty long. 3) The low-end extension is actually MUCH better than you would think -- I have three in 1.5 cubes in one of my cars tuned to 30 hz. It PEAKS at 29 Hz at ~145dB with windows down. So pretty darn impressive in that much box volume. 4) Often times people get the idea it's an SPL driver -- which we do offer custom options as such -- but the stock unit is centered around lots of bottom end output and overall it's a pretty low disortion driver. Overall I couldn't be happier with it for what we designed it for. I am not sure how many owners are on this particular forum but the uptake is over 2x faster than the older SA-8 model so there are tons of them out there with great feedback to us
  13. Did your van get taken away and now you have to pull your gcons around in a wagon?
  14. I have installed the fountek's. They sound good on some songs and very harsh on others. I haven't made any adjustments other than basic gain adjustments. I also heard back from Jacob with sundown. He's offered to trade in my v1 and v1.5 motors for v2 subs, at a great price.

Set your low pass filter to around 80-100hz. DON'T SET IT TO THE HIGHEST SETTING (~250hz). You will blow your sub. The subsonic filter is something you're gonna have to play around with, but I usually set it to around 3-5hz below my box tuning. So for example, if my box was tuned to 32hz, I may set it to around 27-29hz.

I listen to a wide range of music as well. After researching for a while I settled on the 18" XCON and I'm going to be running it in a sealed enclosure. After speaking with NEM I was sold!! He gets nothing but compliments on his set up, which is with a sealed enclosure and 18" XCONS.
  17. Well I called an Alpine parts distribution center and they are 40 plus shipping each, so I'll just order the replacements. Thanks anyway guys!

Welcome to SSA. Between those two, it is a win win. But, refining the needs of the install a little will help on which is the best choice for you.
  19. Shit settled down yet? Everything is going smooth. Life is good. I can't blame my W for defusing the situation, I was pretty yoked on Crown. So now on Probation, doing outpateint treatment, DV classes and UA's. The costs are eating my lunch. The worst part is I can't smoke herb, even with a card. I can grow, buy, sell and transport, but not smoke. go figure. I switched my work hours back to 8hrs a day this week, instead of the 10hrs i've been pulling for the last year and a half. Should help my stress alittle. I usaully have a side job or two going also so still busy as fuck. How's life treating you Ryan?
  20. Been feeling pretty good lately. Tonight is my 2nd night back to work in 3 weeks.
  21. Yeah, good idea. That way I can look back at it when I'm old and def and say WTF were we doing back then, haha. I think I might build a stand the exact height I need it so we can just push and slide it in, or use a forklift very carefull till its half way in and just slide the rest of the way. I will video it either way.
  22. Tuned in. Can your wife video you putting the box inside the truck? That's one I would love to see. Your tall ass truck too.
  23. How about some bracing. Painted and sanded the port with 180 grit, smooooooth Glassing the 45's and port junction Mofo is huge All I have to do now is one more coat of resin inside and some sanding, put the brass terminals in, roundover the port entry and she can go in the truck. I have a feeling this is gonna get loud. Then I have the task of making it all look good in the truck. I have alot of money wrapped up in this enclosure, and I still have a ways to go.... I started looking at receipts, bad idea..... Final specs are 20cuft net, with 277.5in of port, tuned at 31hz
  24. Been working like crazy on the truck this long weekend (Thanksgiving up in Canada) and made some good headway, First thing I did is tear everything off including door panels, rear panel, back half of headliner etc. Then I used dynomat, great stuff (went a little spray happy and some camper mouunting foam to deaden and stop vibration of headliner and other panels. Very happy with results already, hitting the back wall or roof no longer gives that nasty tin sound but instead a hearty thump. Other thing I did today is build my false floor which my box and amps will be sitting on. used seat belt mounts to bolt down the floor and its very strong . Also rockguarded the box today, (except the front baffel) pretty happy with the finish, couldnt get a perfect finish on front baffle so got it pretty good and gave up and just sprayed it black. (will probably put on a beauty panel in future.) Heres a few pics, sorry for lack of them, always just work and forget to take pics. let me know what you think. also ran all wiring.
  25. The Start of the box build. This is only the third box i've built so its gonna be far from perfect, previous ones were for a Kicker CVR 12" and a IA I10" so nothing to this extent, so far i'm happy with how its turning out. These pictures are before hours of sanding to get joints perfect and clean up extra PL Premium. Thanks for looking I know holes aren't perfect, thought I had a circle jig but I didnt and wanted to get the top on so i freehanded it with a jigsaw, it turned out alright. That's where I left it last night, will be putting on top baffle and test fitting subs tonight. Probably will rock guard the whole box except the port and top baffle, then will paint the top and port blue to match truck and then make a black vinyl beauty panel for top similar to the design. Let me know what you think,
  26. They are "sick" if you are limited on space. If you aren't I don't understand all of the hype.
  27. <<<<<< Has been playing music since he was 6. Percussion is where the G's hang out with their bass tattoos. lol
  28. Due to the music Crescendo, just a name to follow with the signs in musical notes. Bass Clef = Mono Block "Bass Amps" The word Crescendo has NOTHING to do with bass. It's just a gradual increase in volume. He never said it did?
