3 pointsI only mentioned it is a Chinese product because you referred to it as an American product in your first post. When you order from SSA they send your order information to Sundown. Depending on how busy sundown is, it make take a few days to get tracking info. I would say the SA-12 can handle more power in the right install. I would need to know more about yours. Box specs? Subsonic filter? How did you set your gain?3 points

My subwoofer arrived broken
3 pointsIt does not have to be in a fedex box, our boxes are rated for 300 pounds as is the packaging...we drop them off the fork lift and they survive. have you got a claim going? if you're getting no where i'll call our FedEx rep and get it taken care of..we've shipped tens of thousands of speakers like that, a handful getting broken out of that number of speakers is not a bad record at all3 points

This thread is full of......WOW just WOW. OP-These guys know their shit and if you will listen and follow the links they provide, not only will YOU be better at this sport, but your equipment/setup will be better. I promise you are in good hands. It got off to a rough start because of how you were coming off, but they are still willing to help you-TAKE IT! I even seen that a member on here offered TO COME TO YOU TO HELP! Where else on any forum can you find that? No where. And I know brutalbasser knows his shit, so if he is offering still, then TAKE IT! I am not shouting at you, I just want you to see those words. This is a great place to learn and hangout, and I would love to see you take the advice and take your build to the next level. Take some time to read and re-read what is being said and process it. Hope all works out for you and as stated this is not the site to be on for someone to just say "Hey go buy this amp and this wooooofer and you will be king of all deebeez" We don't play that. Solid advice and self teaching.....2 points

2 pointsFirst of all the Sundown SA-12 is a Chinese made woofer. Sundown should be shipping your subwoofer out to you soon. Sometimes the system is behind and does not update right away. Where did you send a message? The best way to get ahold of SSA is [email protected]2 points

Lol @ I saw someone selling some of those on classifieds Yah, but nobody is ever worthy of actually "owning" one. Let's be realistic for a moment. The Funky Pup in all its mythical glory shouldn't be owned by any one person as its destructive tendencies are capable of leveling entire villages on a single burp. I have seen it decimate cars and watched people writhe in agony under its sheer power. It is said that one of these were set off many years ago near what was known as Hiroshima only to level the entire place. It is obvious that if the OP can't install his own equipment then I feel we cannot entrust our most kept secret to him. Imagine the look on the installers face when they found out what they have.1 point- Any input on Stetsom Amps before I order?

1 pointI can just imagine. K2 I was curious if they did as I would guess....which is to design a sub with huge (claimed) excursion, and then set the T/S in such a manor that it's only useful in ported enclosures which sort of nullifies the entire necessity of huge excursion limits. I'll reserve the rest of my comments until after seeing the T/S. Ha, the reservation isn't founded, otherwise they T/S would have already been posted. Anyone who ever orders anything as a pre-order without full disclosure of specifications is getting screwed and misled. I'll bet money the driver is going to be absolutely effed. That's the way of the internet market YO! Pre-orders on products no one has heard due to no actual production model being in existence. ~~~~~ On a serious note, in the last 5-7 years or so, (was just discussing this with SDY), it is not about research and development (not referring to this sub as I cannot speak much on it) in general. The market has swung to mostly "OH look, NEW and SHINY!!! MUST HAVE NOW!" Hence so many pre-orders from completely new companies with no product, only to be followed by successive pre-orders. Now, there are some companies that can actually afford the product run that they are offering a pre-order too (Sundown and Crescendo might be the ONLY two I can think of) most all others are using the pre-order funds to finance the first build run of product. Meaning, there is no need to start a company, build any equity or savings to start product development, when the customers can pay for it from the get go.1 point- FI Sp4 On Fire.. Warranty?

1 point- advice on on 18inch subs that will handle 6k whatts need new ones
lol you did not follow my point. the Z IS FAR FROM A BUDGET sub and this is going to sound rude but its true... you are going to blow what ever sub you get regaurdless untill you stop and learn.. pay attention and stop what is blowing your subs... wait for it..... YOU. you are blowing your subs.. your lack of knowledge is hurting you . i run 1500 RMS subs on a 7K ... .. i can do that because i understand what i am doing, i have build a box thast helps me do that , and i have the electrical back bone to support what i do.. you are failing on multiple points .. in short.... you can get a 3000 watt sub if you want.. but its not going to fix your issue.. only prolong your failure. and BTW. the Zcon will take 5K on music in the right hands.1 point- advice on on 18inch subs that will handle 6k whatts need new ones
How are they basically the same thing? The evil has a 4" coil, the DP has a 3" coil. The evil is 3250 rms, the DP is 1500 rms. They have different suspension. And much, much, much more different characteristics. Can you please add punctuation.1 point- advice on on 18inch subs that will handle 6k whatts need new ones
The evil is not even similar in the least. Death Penaltys are 1500rms, Evils are 3250rms. Sp4's are 3000rms. Death Penaltys have 3" coil, the Evil and the SP4 are 4" coil. and almost everything else is very different. I'd name some of the stuff but I'm not super knowledgable on T/S specs. The Fi and SSA are rated to take twice the power so obviously lots of parts will be stronger and able to handle more power. The DD Z is not in this category as its MSRP is over a grand so its not a budget sub as you requested, then again neither are the other two but definitely less money than a DD Z1 point- My subwoofer arrived broken
1 pointI have received over a dozen subs packaged like that from ups and never had a problem with any damage.1 point- Upgrade itch, wanting to scratch with SSA
I'm pretty much set with going the SSA route, just need some help with my options. First, I am looking more for SQ rather than SPL, but also want to be able to make hairs stand on my neck and get loooow when needed. So Im thinking a sealed enclosure...also to save space. Currently my amp runs 750rms @2 ohm (1000 @ 1 ohm stable), so most likely would upgrade amp if need. With regards to damping factor on amps, would 2 ohm be sufficient vs 1 ohm on most amps or is this not such an important aspect? I'm considering two Gcon 12's or a single Icon/Xcon...price being important as I would like to stay under $500. If I go single sub would 15" be as efficient as two 12"? And would Icon or Xcon 15" be too boomy for sq music? As far as enclosure space, I would be ok with the recommended "sealed optimal" size as stated in the specifications. I want to do it right, and only do it once. Sorry if I am missing some needed details for your help, let me know what you guys think. I just need some SSA action. Thanks guys1 point- Upgrade itch, wanting to scratch with SSA
Well minor setback, the shop had a problem tapping from the head unit. So they will have to reinstall the factory infinity amp and tap from that. I went with components front and rear. I just decided its what I wanted, as I felt I was missing the rear fill which was bothering me. I'm not so much worried about a front stage simulating a concert in the front. So anyways I have to go back Tuesday to finish. And tonight I also purchased the 15" Xcon! Guess I will be waiting the build time.1 point- Upgrade itch, wanting to scratch with SSA
1 point- Upgrade itch, wanting to scratch with SSA
Pair of Gcons PORTED. That or up to a single 15" Xcon/Gcon ported. Size has NO correlation to boominess. Ported has no anti-correlation with SQ. Port tuning and unloading can be easily managed.1 point- Upgrade itch, wanting to scratch with SSA
Hyundai santa Fe....SUV. That's good...IMO. It makes things easier as far as I'm concerned. Going ported should be of no fear. You have a subsonic filter and as long as the box is designed the right way and built correctly along with setup you'll be fine. I used to be a sealed box only guy but was swayed when I bought my OG first gen SSA Icon 10. I might have missed it but I didn't see what sub or subs you had in the past to make a good comparison. An Xcon might be overkill for you. We know the vehichle I assume, what kind of front stage do you have? Are you trying to build a balanced system or just bass notes out the rear end? It sounds like you are seriously leaning towards "SQL" kind of like me. My system has similar power to the sub like you have available. I am probobly around 1000 watts and I am giving all of that to a single Icon 10 in a 1.35 ported enclosure tuned to 32 hz. Front stage I have about 150 x 4 on tap running active to a set of comps. All in an 04 Explorer. No rear fill because I would most likely not be able to hear it. It gets insanely loud. I am not and never will be a fan of rap music but I do have one song on my ipod to demo for freinds. With both front windows down and the moonroof closed it flexes the doors and the flex in the roof is about an inch and a half. They get really, really loud and sound amazing. I go from that rap song and go right back to the prog rock I listen to and they play deep, precise and every other sq accolade that you can think of. If you can fit a ported enclosure for a single sub I would highly suggest the Icon. The Gcon is a highly respectable driver and I would also throw the FI Q in there. I only ask what you have had in the past to know what you had and what you're expectations are. You could be very happy with an Icon or an FI Q on the amp you have in a ported enclosure. Are you going to want more like suggested with the Xcon? then you will get into electrical upgrades. Can your front stage keep up with that upgrade as well? To be totally honest I guess I don't have stock electrical. Big 3 and deep cycle battery. No dimming since the big 3 at all.1 point- BigPimpin91 Music
