  1. I need to do less work with my hands and more thinking with my head with this install. I went into the midbass install thinking "make the enclosure as small as possible", total fuck up on my part. I should have first looked at the enclosure QTC with the driver I am using in a sealed alignment. I am seeing a 18db/oct roll off, typical with an aperiodic enclosure, but at a much higher fs than what I want.
  2. Both of the midbass drivers are installed with a very rough surface finished enclosure. I have the xover freqs set at highpass 50hz 24db/oct and lowpass 400hz 12db oct. No eq, time alignment or phase adjustment at this time. I have the ability to turn of my low, midrange and high pass frequencies at the head unit. After doing this, with only the 8" RS225-4 playing, my first impression was disgust They sounded like shit. Really no midbass at all and very peaky. After further research I am 100% sure that the enclosures are too small. Which is completely my error with going into this project hands first and not head first. After turning my low, midrange and high pass back on the front stage came together really good. Although I am still lacking the midbass punch I am after. The subbass is more "up front", which is a plus. Today I made an attempt to boost the lower end response of the RS225 install. I filled the enclosures with polyfill, I stuffed the dash with polyfill, I covered the enclosures with CCF and MLV. Unfortunately everything I did did nothing to the fr. I also made under dash covers. They are very simple; made out of cardboard. One side is covered with CCF and MLV and sprinkled with polyfill. After doing all the install stuff I can do the last thing to do is to adjust phase alignment, eq and t/a. Hopefully with some eq cutting/boosting I can work out this shitting ass fr. All of this (fr) has nothing to do with subjective listening. Here is my mic setup for fr testing
  3. Since when does a low tune freq, obviously ported, go against an sq style install? Op, is your current enclosure optimal for your P2? does an SQ stereo not sound better when sealed........ No. The enclsoure alignement is designed to be suitable in the environment it is in and for the driver that is being used. It is not true to say that a sealed enclsoure is always best for an SQ setup.
  4. I personally prefer to run same manufacturer front and rear. Definitely not required. As far as mixing battery types it isnt recommended by battery manufacturers. I wouldnt agrue. I also wouldnt use an old battery (3-5 years old) with a new one.
  5. I dont take anything for truth. Dont get mad cause what you said was false.

  7. Didnt Duran make those dust caps? yeah and??? You said SSA made the dustcaps.
  8. The sp4 and xcs are heavy hitters. I would love to hear a comparison/review with the Sundown NS. I am currently using the Z.3 and I am amazed. I would like to use DD someday too.
  9. Didnt Duran make those dust caps?
  10. Those B2 amps and subs look great. I havent heard of them until your build log. Wondering, have you used Sundown subs in the past?
  11. ???? Also, are there any plans for an amp that is between this and the NS-1?
  12. Wait till you get the SA-15's installed
  13. Looking god man! Get it metered yet
  14. I have ran L7's many years ago. With the right power and enclosure they do sound ok. Not too sure what issues the guys were having that said they sounded bad.
  15. Looks nuts. How does it sound?
  16. Classic driver. Thanks for the write-up.
  17. The entire enclosure will be covered in carpet, same as the floor. gotcha. should look perfect when its done !! I hope so. Keeping my fingers crossed that it sounds as well as I want it too!
  18. The entire enclosure will be covered in carpet, same as the floor.
  19. I got the driver's side midbass installed. I an going to be covering the enclosures with MLV and CCF eventually. Started on the passenger side.
  20. Nice amps!
  21. You could also check out the Sundown SD series. I dont think they make an 8" though. The SD series is a 10-12" line. Somewhat shallow mount and only require tiny sealed enclosures.
  22. Will there be a difference in output power with this new amp versues the previous version?
  23. I hope so because having the ZCON sealed would be silly. It sounds good in theory but getting the proper ported box in that space does not sound possible to me. it does not sound possible, however i will figure this one out! this will be the toughest enclosure design ( considering the space im working with and wanting to be ported) that i will have to do, but will do and install if he gives the ok. good thing come to those who wait, and better things happen if you let someone else take care of it. You really are full of shit in this thread. Maybe basket weaving would be more up your alley.
  24. I haven't had time to do much. I am using a kitty hair like product to smooth out the transition between the mounting ring and the baffle. The good thing about this install is that the entire piece will be covered in carpet. I do not need ultra smooth finish. Although I will still get it nice About an hour more work on this enclosure and it will be completed.
  25. Good job with the box. I still havent mastered carpeting. Let us know how it sounds.
