Posted February 10, 201213 yr I'm looking for a solid amp for my mids and highs, 125-150 rms @ 4 ohms. A friend of mine is pushing me towards the Jl 300.2 but I know there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good. I'd like to keep the price around 200-300$. Thanks for any input!

February 10, 201213 yr 200w x 2 @ 4 ohm Bridgedhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Precision-Power-Ax-400-/140697241158?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item20c2358646#ht_500wt_921

February 10, 201213 yr it is a very nice amp and priced at 250$ bnib is amazing! you can normally find one for about 150-175 used!

February 10, 201213 yr Cool Ill have to look into the sax 125.2 a little more seems like a nice quality amp.Why would you look at paying 150% more for that Sundown compared to the Aura? Even if comparing to a used SAX 125.2 the Aura is a much better value.Based on your original request, I think your search would pretty much end with the Aura amp. My other suggestion would be the PPI P900.4. Within your budget, reasonable footprint, bridge it down to 2 channels for 450w x 2 @ 4ohm. Headroom =
February 10, 201213 yr Admin Brad, you have a knack for finding good cheap power, and I know you dig headroom. . Have you had any play time on the newer PPI's? Curious, because I liked the older amps, just like the older Soundstreams.
February 10, 201213 yr What a lot of people forget about with older amps made back in the 90's and late 80's were that they were rated @12v and not 14.4v so when you put them on +14v you can see an increase of up to 15% more power and the quality of those amps far surpass most amps in today's market.

PASMAG tested the P900.4.....output rated power, flat response, no noise issues, reasonably efficient, decent footprint. And at $200 authorized online (SE is an authorized PPI internet dealer), they seem like a hell of an amp.I think I've pretty well decided they'll be my next amps. I'd love to have two Leviathans but too much $.

Which was a lot more common then and yes....I am a huge OS fanboy.

February 11, 201213 yr Just got me a PPI 2150am the other day for a really nice price. OS is the best way to go though and for what you can get it at is insanely cheap. Edited February 11, 201213 yr by Skullz
