February 26, 201312 yr Author Yea it's your choice. At least your going to get a good amp though.Yeah, I just feel like i could get more out of the 5.5 @.5 then 2x2ks @ 1. whether or not ill notice, thered really only be one way to find out. so I figure ill just go with my gut on which one will put out more. Don't think I'd be dissatisfied either way tho.
February 26, 201312 yr Yea your right you will be happy either way but 4k to 6k you won't hear a difference in output. That's just my thought about it lol
February 27, 201312 yr Author single big amp. cendo Just saw your sig, how you liking your BC5500? what ohm load you got on it? and whats your electrical? just to give me an idea of how power hungry it is.also, how do you like the evil? looks beastly. Yea your right you will be happy either way but 4k to 6k you won't hear a difference in output. That's just my thought about it lol Im sure I will be.And you are most likely right that I wont. Ive gone over it atleast 783 times in my head and I cant figure it out. So im just gonna go with the big one hahaand then maybe a c1100.4 and a few more set of massive RK6s
February 28, 201312 yr There is no such thing as "box rise". Your alignment will have an impedance curve, this both rises and falls. It is varies with frequency. It will never be lower than total DCR. There is no advantage to a pair of amplifiers vs a single one, when driving the same impedance. It is whatever works out best for you. There can be the disadvantage of a loss in dampening with a strapped pair, this will lower the control of the woofers and may effect sound quality.
March 1, 201312 yr Author I have the Massive RK6 and love them.I do too! I was gonna run skar pax but decided on the rk instead. Great decision, they get super loud and sound awesome, after bumping them down 2db at 8khz and 10khzI want to run 3 sets up front and one in the back doors off a Crescendo c1100.4 (2 per channel for 300w at 2ohm). They definitely want more power than the sk85.4 puts out although i havent tried bridging it yet, feel like 250 per may be a bit much.
March 5, 201312 yr I think they can take it with no problems bro. I'm running 150 watts per side and they scream loud. Just found out yesterday though I have a faulty crossover network so I'm working with MA to get a new replacement.
March 5, 201312 yr Oh okay so your xxxterra on floridaspl? I didn't even realize haha. Nice meeting you last night man.
March 6, 201312 yr Author Oh okay so your xxxterra on floridaspl? I didn't even realize haha. Nice meeting you last night man. yeah, that me. good meeting you too bro. hopefully ill be able to get the truck to BHE at the end of this week and itll be playing when i get back
March 11, 201312 yr Author Decision has been made, Nendo BC5500 will be ordered when i get back to FL, and my box should be done on my return as well. super excited to have everything up and playing finally.
March 11, 201312 yr Wellllll If you already have the subs (D2) I'd opt for a single big amp like the BC5500, but pending the box size, you may not reach those subs full potential. I dunno... If you had D1's I'd opt for two BC3500's, I ran two strapped @.9 nominal. Definitely power houses. You can't always count on rise, like it has already been stated. Hopefully I'm not beating a dead horse.

Hopefully I'm not beating a dead horse. already have the subs, and they are D2, partial traded my xbl^2 xxx 15 for them. Im ordering my bc5500 as soon as i get back home from vacation. worst case i guess is run it and then sell for something bigger if i need it, which i doubt. And yeah, I have no clue what rise may or may not be. Box is being built by Bassheads ent. right now. Should be killer though, they do great work. no dead horse beating, this has been a pretty long drawn out decision process for me. I really want to get it right the first time and any input is appreciated.
March 13, 201312 yr Author Nice man, I can't wait to hear this beast. Me either, or atleast see it haha. But I'm sure you know how getting progress pics from Robin goes.Ill get some pics when i go get it sunday evening. Should be sexy; subs up port back, flush mount, black vinyl, kerf port gonna be a shifting dark grey to a dark red metallic flake in the light. And hopefully amp will be in soon, so I can get it playing and get some vids.
