Posted January 30, 201411 yr Tossing up a single 15'' Sundown Zv4 or two 12'' XCON's tuned for lows. I know that the Sundown is built for it but would it be able to offer me the same amount of throw that 24'' of cone area would from two 12's?
January 30, 201411 yr 2 12s have more cone area than the single 15, 2 12s don't have a cone area of 24 inches either. Edited January 30, 201411 yr by Stephen93s10
January 30, 201411 yr 2-12's build your box big as you can with your dimensions. 12's can get very loud. and I love 15's, believe me.
January 30, 201411 yr Cone area - 1 15" < 2 12" < 1 18" < 2 15"Box size needed - same.2 magnets means 2x the price as well :/
January 30, 201411 yr Two 12 inch subs have cone area of 226inSquare inches? yeah 226.19 square inches
January 30, 201411 yr If you have the space two twelves will beat a single fifteen. Will you hear the difference. That will all depend on the install. Good luck!
January 30, 201411 yr The fact that people either don't know how, or are too lazy to calculate the area of a simple circle baffles me. Freshman math. Not college freshman math, HIGH SCHOOL MATH.

January 30, 201411 yr Author I'm shooting for "SQL" and really one 18 has more cone area than two 12's am I reading this right?

January 30, 201411 yr Author I do not want to get "loud" I want to play low notes with authority. I want to sound powerfully DEEP and LOW. I like that boomie drawn out pressurized effect that 29-34Hz tends to produce
January 30, 201411 yr Go ZV4 then if you think it fits your goals more. Or tune very low with your 12's can play very low. But there is something to be said for the "digging" that 15's and 18's are capable of.
January 30, 201411 yr There is no such thing as ""SQL"" it is something somebody made up.Realistically, if you had a front stage that could truly "keep up" with a very high level of bass, you wouldn't be able to sit in that high frequency ear bleeding mess.
January 30, 201411 yr Author I don't care about the front stage, what is this "digging" that 15's and 18's are especially capable of??
January 30, 201411 yr The thing I don't get is he is asking for is both lows and highs from the subs. You have to pick a happy medium and you won't get the max either way. Go spl or sq. Spl for a groundpounder.
January 30, 201411 yr You want to make somebody know your coming. What kind of vehicle do you have? Edited January 30, 201411 yr by pmureika
