12" RE Audio SR Ported Enclosure

Recommended Posts

Is 2.5 cu ft too big for a 12" RE Audio SR subwoofer?

RE recommends 1.5 cu ft tuned to 35 hz.

I have it in a 1.7 cu ft ported box tuned to 30 hz and it doesnt move like its suppose to. I have 400 watts RMS on it. Getting another amplifier is out of the question.

I want my sub to be more efficient and have a more extended lower end. I just dont want it to sound bad (or get "boomy").

Thanks

How do you know its not already moving like it was supposed too? A bigger box won't solve your excursion problem. If you want more low end, try putting it in a sealed box.

How do you have it wired to the amp?

its being given 400 watts and its not moving as much as I thought it would

The SR is rated at 300 watts and Ive seen videos of SRs moving alot more.

Its wired to 2ohms, it sounds good and gets pretty loud. It just seems to me like this sub has more potential.

So, a bigger enclosure will not make my subwoofer louder?

Why is everyone so concerned with how much the sub moves in a ported enclosure?

Like it matters...

Depends on tuning. That's quite a large step up from your current one though.

Im still learning about ported enclsoures :)

when playing at tuning frequency, the cone will actually be moving the least
