Audison SRX amps and MTX 5500 subs

Recommended Posts

Found out something very stupid.

The amps wont take a dual 2ohm subwoofer, it says 4ohm at the terminals only....

Like the amp knows what VC's you have

I couldnt find a screw driver small enough to get the wire out.

The seller couldnt either.

They are super crazy small, not very well thought out.

I rewired those sledge hammers from 8ohms down to 2ohms and ran 1 per channel.

I blew the fuse, which is basically a piece of wafer thin aluminium

(sp) replaced ith with a custom made one out of speaker wire :P

Another thing they didnt thing out very well, not cant just go buy a fuse for this thing

Amp didnt seem to mind.

Played a sweep on the subs and they have some nice whistling.

The port goes the length of the wedge enclosure then is stepped down to an even smaller port made of what looks like 1/8" MDF and sits inside.

Its a slot ported wedge....that doesnt make any sense.

Sorry, I cannot reveal it. I've said as much as I can now. Mine still haven't arrived yet either, so hopefully tomorrow. . . .

I did a bit of abuse testing on teh Srx1 today.

Ran it at 2ohms per channel, not rated for that much.

50/80 on my 8443, sub volume on 16,gain on amp at 1/2, no bass boosters. Probably played this amp for a good 20 min. It was pretty dang loud, stuff was shaking on my garage

It got plenty toasty but never shot off. After all was said and done the max temp i got was 150degF. Even the MTX subs were warm.

All in all...im very impressed with what this little amp can kick out. Dont let the size or fuse rating fool you.

just a personal thing, bewteen me and another shop that caries audsion, they dont have the skills to back up the amp for a good install. to put in in short terms they suck at what they do, with nice products.

i honestly don't think $200 is asking too much for that setup. i have yet to hear a sledgehammer setup that wasn't loud as hell. maybe not the best sounding, but they do wang like mad!!

i could sell that for $200 in about two days around here.....you should get rid of it quickly...

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:
