  1. I found this very interesting and decided to post it here to save yall precious clicking time. I probably understood like 65% of the material, but get the basic idea. All of this info is taken from here : http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showth...ht=coustic+xm-6 Mod edit: Thank you to MiniVanMan from DIYMA for putting this together. "There have been a lot of questions of late on the differences between active and passive crossovers. I'm sure with the influx of people on this board there's some confusion over what's what when crossovers are mentioned and how they're employed. So, while this is in no way a comprehensive tutorial on crossovers, it's a beginning. Especial…

well here it goes, im a programming student and bored as hell because the workload is so light right now. And basically i am making an all in one car audiuo calculator. Sofar i have a calculator that allows someone to punch in cone size, number of subs, and desired tuning frequency and the program will spit back all relevent information such as the length of the port needed for a transmission line box, the port area that will be needed, and an estimation, based on material thickness, a rough estimate of how big cubic foot wise the box will be. and from this i can minimize it back down into a cone area calculator, and a box size calculator. i was just looking for some sugg…

Stereo Interconnects (RCA's) RCA's were invented in 1972 by the famous audio engineer Richard Clark, as a stable replacement for previous connectors (hence RCA : an acronym for 'Richard Clark Audio', the company under which Richard Clark first released these connectors to the world). The point of the RCA interconnect was simple : to allow connections to be made simply and securely between amplifiers, CD players, tuners, speakers, power sockets, etc, without risk of electrical shorting or loose wires. RCA's quickly caught on, and are now the connector of choice for the pro audio industry, and hence the car audio industry as well. They are somewhat rarer in home audio circl…

I'm going to try to make this as simple as possible, there are only certain way woofers can be wired. You cannot wire them in anyway you choose to any ohm load you choose. There are rules to follow with Ohm's Law, which is why it's a Law and not a suggestion. I have seen it a few times in the last 2 days, where people say they will wire them in two different way with only one being possible, and it is very annoying, and no ones seems to want to point it out. So, I will try to make a simple list of basic woofer voice coil configurations and the only ohm loads you can wire them to. And for the noobs "Ω" is the symbol for Ohm Single Dual 4Ω woofer: Parallel 2Ω - Series 8Ω …

Hello I am having problems with the JBL GTO 1514D. I have made the enclosure to the jbl specifications. It is in a 3.45 cube box with a 4 inch PVC port that is 13 inches long. However I am getting a LOT of port noise, which makes the audio very dirty. I am using this subwoofer in a home audio application. When building the box i used liquid nails to seal the joints of mdf boards, and I also used 1 5/8 coarse thread drywall screws. After this was completed I coated the inside with fiberglass resin to fortify the interior. The sub is recessed and down firing with a back facing port the amplifier is also on the back. These cutouts have been sealed with silicone, as well as…

Can anyone give me some ideas on fixing these cracks in my car's trunk floor? I'm aiming to get a good seal so it won't leak and for it too not crack again once I put my sub back in. Oh and I'm trying to spend as little money as possible so I could use some cheap ideas. I appreciate any input. Goes past the deadening to where my finger is.. And then there's this..

Ok here is what I was wondering if I get a 16v alternator an ran hc16v with the 12 an 16 volt terminal would I just connect the alt to the battery 16v side to charge. Then run my 12v electronics from the 12v post an the amp to the 16v. Just wondering if this is how it would work cause i'm considering this setup if it doesn't get to much more complicated. Thanks an sry if this all sounds to stupid or wrong.

  20. Excursion is a large contributor to high output in any driver on the market. Typically, larger excursion (seen visually as how far the cone moves in and out) means more sonic output. However, with excursion come challenges. As the driver moves outward, the voice coil begins to move out of the gap. This causes a drop in the magnetic force (or BL) and results in a few negative effects, including a large theile/small parameter shift, lower efficiency (magnetic flux decreases), less control over the voice coil (transient response increases, making the driver sound sloppy), and introduces distortion into the output. Knowing these effects, there was a need to design a parameter…

I've had a buch of bass installs , never payed much attention EQíng the front stage because the bass was simply to loud to notice the flaws the frontstage had Now I want to attempt to get a frontstage that is more than decent , no SQ comps , just for my enjoyment I want have it really good . A good part of a system is EQing the system to get the staging tonal balance just right , but with what music or reference tracks best to do that with ? reason I'm asking is because I keep turning on knobs cause I can't find "it" what I'm looking for with the music I'm familiar with .. there must be some stuff that can get you close in "steps" followed in a logical order

Well guys maybe one of you can help me out. I have/had in my SUV a Tc sound axis 12 and was playing it on my orion 275rhcca amp at 1ohm and it was slammin UNTIL it started to rattle So after i removed it from the box i noticed that the whole spider assembly came unglued from the basket/spider landing . Now this is my question I'm sure that its covered under warranty but what are my chances of reglueing it my self? It's not about if i can do it but rather will it be worth it in the long run so to speak. I don't think it will be a problem aligning the coil as it seems to rest snugly in one spot where the LITTLE bit of glue originally was. I have a pair of them and I'm …
