This topic is just out of curiousity. Which of these would be louder? They should take up almost the same amount of space as eachother. The 4 dcon 10s would be in 1.25 cu.ft each tuned to 33hz and the xcon 15 would be in 4.5 cubes tuned to 33hz. I'm just thinking about setups I'd like to get in the future when I get a Rav4 or a Highlander.

ok so i ordered a DCON 12 single vc 4ohms about a month ago and it was the same as pictured on the website so i ordered another last friday and got it in like an hour ago and when i opened the box it only says SSA while the one i bought a month ago say SSA DCON on the dust cap. So my question is did i get the wrong speaker or did i get stuck with an older/newer model? i really like the one that say dcon on it. but i jus want to make sure that i got a recent model. thanks in advance for your answers!!!

Hi guyz, Just wondering a few things... Which one plays best in the high range (70hz-125hz)? Which one plays best in sealed? Which one has the best SQ? As in decay, attack, etc... Power delivery no object Thanks, Kelvin PS: believe it would be the Icon but never know...

I was looking through ssa products and none of them mention a shorting ring in the description. Do any of the ssa subwoofers use a shorting ring?

  5. I've been meaning to do this for a while but haven't had a chance yet. 15" Icon Home Sealed Lower power - 4-5.5 cubes Higher power - 2.5-3 cubes sealed Home Ported Music - 4 cubes tuned to 30 Hz Home Theatre - 5 cubes tuned to 20 Hz (can tune lower if wanted) Vehicle Sealed 2-2.5 cubes sealed Vehicle Ported 3.5-4 cubes tuned anywhere from 28-35 Hz Any of those should work just fine. It's very important that you match your enclosure to your application. If you do so, you'll be very happy.

i have pair of dcon 10's. I want to make an enclosure for them and its recommended 1-1.25 cubes 28-33 hurts. what does the smaller size do? Would that mean more power handling? More punchyness? I have a us amps merlin md1 for power and plenty of juice for supply. also what does the tuning frequency effect. i listen to a broad array of music slipknot and mudvayne lamb of god to eletronic and rap. i know there is no perfict setup for all but what would you recommend? I have a 2005 civic sedan if that helps. thanks

Trying to plan my system for when taxes come in. Trying to find out if I can fit two of these in my xb. Will be sealed cus I suck at making ported boxes and not sure if 2 sealed will fit or not. Measured the cargo area to be 7.49cf if I did my math right. Area was 38*20*17 for dimensions. Could go an inch or two higher on the height (20). Hopefully powered by a saz3000d. Dc 320 amp alt. Just trying to figure out how much to save up before taxes come. Also I would have to order d1 coils for that amp right?

  9. im thinking about adding another xcon 12 and another ed nine.1 im just worried about space if i did it i would want to go ported but i dont know how it would fit seeing as how my 1 12inch xcon takes up a good amount of space in its ported box. maybe seal them up? i just dont want to lose output. what do you guys think of 2 xcons sealed up on 2 ed nine.1's? if i do this they will be going in an 07 ford fusion not in the 02 chevy malibu i have my xcon in now. Thanks guys in advance p.s the xcon is by far the best sounding sub i have ever owned. its starting to break in and get lowder and clearer haha adding another is going to be insane hehehe

So yesterday i installed my new 10" Icon with a 125.2 Sundown. And install went fine, little trouble with the Line Out Convertor, but we worked through it. After it was all installed and setup good we started messing with tuning, and man this setup was POUNDING away on my BMW!! I mean for a 10 and the 125 to be hitting this hard was amazing. Cutting the story short i was driving home and had the music going nothing outrageous just listing to the radio. I get up this morning to do some final touches and noticed that my license plate had rattled off on my way home!!! I thought it was hilarious!!! Well that is my little plug/review of my new SSA/Sundown system!! Thanks.

wow just wow... i was told that i should wire it up to 4 ohms and let it run for a week to break it in so i did that and i thought it wouldnt sound too good until i wired tto the full 1 ohm but man was i wrong. im running an ed nine.1 and its wired to 4 ohm so the sub is probbly getting about 500-600 watts and it still sonds amazing. can only imagine how the whole 1300 will sound. Couldnt get any vids today but i will tomorrow. 1 question though. should i leave it wired to 4 ohms to brea in or will i be fine wiring it up to 1 ohm and letting it break in that way?

I've been eyeing the Dcons for a month or two and now that the price was dropped I'm defineatly getting three. I just don't know if i want tens or twelves. My question is how much wattage is safe for them? I plan on running them with an Elemetal Desings Nine.1 at one ohm for 1200 watts. I know the Dcon's are rated for three hundred watts and my amp is underatted and with my electrical upgrades I'd be at 1400-1500 watts. With all that said should i just go easy on the gains or downgrade my amp?

My girl has an ICON on 1k in 2.5 cubes tuned to 32hz, i'm meeting full excursion on the subwoofer with our listening habits. I'm looking to upgrade to an XCON so it can handle the abuse better and so we can have possible upgrade(s) in near future. What are the Pros and Cons of upgrading? How does the XCON handle 1k? Looking for short and sweet answers Thanks guys! Dom.

  17. So i just purchased a 1st generation 15" icon from Big E! (great guy) And i've decided to take some pictures and post 'em up here! I had to take the pictures anyways since i have to send them to the real owner of the sub. I decided that there might be a few guys up here who would appreciate seeing them as well! It's also kind of a part 2 for my review on Big E as a seller. I tried to capture the very minimal inperfections.

I put in my order for an SSA Icon 12" driver on either the 27 or 28th of August and to my surprise, the sub will be this Monday. About a 2 week wait! I was not expecting such a fast time. The website says expect a 3-4 week build so I did. I havent even ordered my amp yet! I need to get on it!

Just woundering if a 12" Dcon would work well in a home theater system. It would be in a seald box powered by a 250 watt Dayton plate amp. Andanother question, can you get the Dcon without the logo on the dustcap? Caus I want to go with a real clean look.

  21. As title says, Purchased product - march 30th 2013 (approx) Product received - may 31st 2013 (approx 2 month wait.. no big deal gonna be awesome right) Product self destruct - cone broke outwards 7-20-13 (powered by rf t1500.1, yellow top battery, plenty of breaking, cone broke outward not inward, and had a grill stepped off the box (after my gfs RE SX got a hockey skate through it i will never do a naked install again) Contacted company July 27th to inform them of the issue, simple dust cap replacement, no big deal they promised me to ship it out asap. July 27 -> now 4 separate back and forths, all with promises that it will be shipped out immediately…

Hello everybody, as the title says I want to suprise my husband with a pair of xcon 15s, but I do not want him to be dissappointed with my purchase. After I decided that I wanted to get him some subwoofers for his birthday I started asking him, his friends, and his brothers questions about his current setup so that I would not spend my money in vain. After much research I have narrowed it down to the xcons. My husband claims that he likes sound quality woofers that have the ability to get loud, which I take are right up the xcon alley. Currently my husband has dual 15 inch Diamond TDX subwoofers and I constantly hear him say that they are hard to beat and are the best woo…

Not sure if this is the right sub forum for this or not. Let me know if I need to move it. I'm in the South Jersey area, I've got a 08 Passat. I wanted to add maybe a 1 12" or 2 10" to the factory sound system to fill out the bottom end. I had a single 10 DCON in my previous car and loved it. I did all my other installs myself, but this time I'd like to have a more professional finish. I saw the SSA HQ is not far from me (about an hour and a half). Does the SSA HQ do installs / have a showroom that I could listen to the other subs they sell (sundown, IA, etc) to see how they all compare? If not, does SSA have any installers in this area they'd recommend?
