Just curious to hear all of your responses. We know why people say not to buy it and 99 percent of the time, cost comes into the picture. The only other potential negative I've ever noticed was in terms of how some of the lower lines used to be packaged that caused a little paint damage on the basket during shipping. So assume you're around a bunch of people who've never heard of nor actually heard SSA subs. What do you say that convinces them it's a solid purchase over the competition? Asking for purely informational purposes and keep in mind I have an ICON myself on order.

If this is in the wrong section, mods please move it. Otherwise, I wanted to comment on the customer service at SSA. I recently ordered a Sundown SAX-100.4 and a Sundown SAZ-2000D. I was quickly notified that there will be a wait on the 100.4 Then a couple days later I asked about the SAZ as I figured I should have had a tracking # by now and was affraid it was going to be backordered as well (such is my luck) and I got an immdediate response back that they'd check on it. To top it all off I got the response from the check practically seconds later that I should have the tracking # tonight. WOW!! is all I can say, that is some quick service. I wish customer service…

Just thought it was worth posting them up here from npdang's review recently. Very few companies are lucky enough to have Kippel results, especially one our size. Great quote from said review: Looks like 1-way xmag of ~19mm, close enough to rated specs. Very nicely centered curve, with good symmetry. Not as extended of a plateau as you might see with the best designs, but a terrific example of a textbook overhung motor. Typical Le curve for a motor without a faraday ring/sleeve, with inductance increasing in the rearward stroke. Appears as if suspension was perfectly mated to the capabilities of the motor. All in all, good results. I didn't observe any excess mechanical …

After a few years of collaborative effort, passive crossovers are here for the Evil component system. Thank you Aaron, Julian, Vladd, Parker and Sean. This was definitely a team effort. When Aaron approached me with this idea a few years ago I was excited to design a set of passive crossovers that were based on performance first and not price or size. These really do sound great, I am proud of the design and the rest of the team knocked out a great PC board and enclosure. I don't think you can find anything better at this price point. Also, as SSA is a staunch supporter of DIY, standby for more resources to build these yourselves... SSA Evil Passive Cr…

Is this even worth trying? I have a 19 Ram Crew Cab and it looks like the 10" GCON is probably one of my few options as far as a shallower mounting depth and smaller enclosure size. I know recommended is 1-.1.5 ported, but I just had to ask. .84 will be after driver displacement, probably end up doing an external port against the back wall of the cab somehow. I am trying to retain a little space under the rear seat for junk, so I do have room to go bigger if its going to be the difference between meh and good. Power will come from an Arc XXK1500 (roughly 1000wrms). Im just worried a single 10 sealed will not give me the output I am looking fo…

Hi guys, I'm installing an a new sound system in my BMW X1 F48. I want to buy 2 Gcon 10s. I will run them on 1500 to 2000 watts, and I need a serious box design for them. I want a ported box, tuned between 32-34 Hz. I think subs up and port back, in the middle should work. I don't want both subs to share airspace, one would near the port and not the other. I don't know what is the optimal size to use. I can pay for a good design, I know nothing is free !

I'm building a set of passive crossovers to do justice for the SSA Evil midwoofers and silk dome tweeters. This is a no compromise design that uses 48 (!) parts per set. They will be potted in epoxy resin inside ABS enclosures and hard wired with direct connection to the drivers. I have been working with these drivers for a while now and really like them. Install will be in a 1978 F-150 a good friend and I built. The rest of the system will be a SSA 150.4 and a 10" custom built PSI sub.

Since there is no "pre-designed enclosures" tab for the GCON, and "enclosure recommendations" says 2.0-2.5 ft3, I'm wondering if I could use the plan for the ICON (12" optimal ported, 2.5 ft3 @ 30 Hz)? @Aaron Clinton?

Is this like a Bass eq or a gain knob? It has a clipping indicator which I've never seen on a Bass EQ knob. Oh and my install is nearly finished. I ran short on power wire (6" short uggh!) so I ordered some more. I would pick it up locally but it's hard to do with 'rona around

I started some spring cleaning today and noticed the mids on my old Baby Advent IIs had blown out the surrounds, so I figured I'd throw the Evil 6.5s in their place and have some fun. Now, these are in a simple bass reflex at 9.1L. There's a simple 1st order crossover running up to 6K, so the woofer is wide open down low and starts rolling 6dB at 6K. It's a really simple design. These are being powered by an old Pioneer Elite receiver rated at 40WPC at 6 ohms. Standing DCR on them was 7.12, so we're in business. Now, I didn't expect much as this was just a WTF experiment. I fired them up and was immediately blown away with the midrange. It's generic, …
