  1. I would have thought that there would be a bigger alternator in a V8 Toyota. I would do some research for other trim levels and see if Toyota made a high output version, because snagging one from the junkyard would be the cheapest.
  2. Why not use a recommended enclosure from the SSA webpage to be safe? There is a tab at the bottom of their product page for enclosure recommendations, and Pre-designed enclosures.
  3. God.. now autozone has Facebook likes on it.. I must be out of the times with all this social networking.. Yea, that's the best choice right there with Autozone.
  4. Great driver that does excellent in a ported enclosure. I had two in a smaller than recommended enclosure and they sounded good. Once I got them into a properly sized box they really came alive. The DCON is an excellent sub woofer for the money.
  5. Yes, the Fs. of the Dcon 15 is higher, along with the Qts. of the 15" version being higher then the smaller sizes. This is due to some adjustments to the design to have a properly done 15" version while retaining a 2" coil and the Dcon motor structure. The 15" version did not debut with the Dcon line, it came later after design adjustments were made to reign in the larger moving mass with the existing motor design. This is the difference you will find with SSA, we don't release something unless it is up to our standards. (Side note: same thing goes with the delayed release of the Icon 18 and Xcon 10, we don't just stick a different size cone/basket on the motor and hope for the best). So with all that said, the Dcon 15 will play well ported in slightly smaller then average boxes, and will be at home in average size sealed boxes. 34hz tuning is fine for daily listening.
  6. Picked up a little something today. Haven't hooked them up yet but for $5 a piece they will at least make good decorations if they don't work.
  7. Sold the pop-up camper yesterday!! Blazer sold last week! Now I got me a boat!! I will be buying new tires for the boat trailer today!
  8. The voltage at the battery and amplifier will never be the same. This why you use sufficent enough gauge of wire, in order to minimize this....
  9. .22 for 200 yards is reasonable or .223 for further. Spend the money on the glass. It is ALL about the glass and the brass(aka consumables) Shooting is...... A weird sport. Long distance is weirder. Like, pistol and 22 guys are like nerdy science guys.....coughryancough... Long range tactical or precision target is weirder.... Like guys with comic collections....funny thing is about both that a lot never play with theirs.... Unreasonable magnum calibres ..... That is me. Just stay away from AR freaky dudes who didn't serve in the military.... Ok some did or will at least sweat they did. Those are like furries who right fan fiction about furries.
  10. I see no problem with his interest... He wouldn't be the first interested in the baby sitter.
  11. Finally got my component sets in and they look and sound Great! That's all for now... Ill get the other side done tomorrow.
  12. Ok not looking good to get my recones before the show this weekend so I went ahead and pulled 2 amps to keep me in the lower class. Going out of town again in the morning so not much tuning and tweaking before Saturday.
  13. Can you replace the tensioner like I did? And fab up a bracket and turnbuckle
  14. The wife just told me that if I laugh all night in my sleep again she is going to push me out of bed. I must have funny dreams.
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb here and if you are asking this question, you aren't plinking cans at 200+yards. Most public outdoor ranges don't go past 100, I've seen them out to 1000 but its not that common. For plinking cans, a Ruger 10/22 with insert random scope here. Tons of fun for cheap. For hunting, kinda depends on what you want to hunt, for just a few rounds a year, any ole .243, 30-06, .308, .270 will do.
  16. maybeh a wall

  18. I have found that I ONLY like large ring sizes. And a stronger tobacco with a mellower burn. Cain Daytona, or Cain F-1 are my favorites right now. I have an Ashton here that I will try and let you know. I enjoyed some of the Kristoff's. But Cain costs less and is better IMHO. Ghurka is the same way, but they have been more hit or miss. I like a lot of Dominican and Nicaraguan as many of those locations use Cuban seeds. The Connecticut isn't bad either... in fact in premium cigars they all have some winners. I really just hate high high high acid smokes, or fast burners. Larger ring helps to mellow the flavor profile so you can pull out more notes from the wrapper as it burns. It is also not as easy to make a torch out of. And the smoke best with a glass of Jefferson Rye. mMMMMMMmmmmm
  19. So I figured I would play around and try to make this look a little nicer. Still can be remove with a little muscle and if I decide to keep it this way I will get more carpet so it looks nicer.
  20. Find a way to monitor the voltage at the amp's power/ground terminals. I bet my bottom dollar the voltage is doing something funky and the amp doesn't like it.
  21. Disconnect the speaker wires (but leave the RCA's in) and see if it protects with the car on. If it does, disconnect the RCA's and see if it protects with the car on. If both then you may be having voltage spikes (where the voltage shoots up for a split second) which makes the amp protect. Voltage spikes won't happen on just battery power so that would make sense. The reason I want you to disconnect the speaker wires and RCA's is to eliminate those from the equation. Another user on here had issues with his BC series amp not liking high voltage.
  22. So guys, i'm frustrated with my system to a certain degree, i currently have my mains as a cerwin vega e-312 pair...they're ok but the enclosure is mostly sub -tiny midrange and a tweeter. It feels like my entire ht is subsonic lol- coupled with the 2 15's subwoofers covering the lfe channel. I want more midrange and midbass particularly for music - i want to hear actual bass timbre from a guitar like a cab. I'm thinking about the eminence beta 8a's which are readily available in my country. I wanna pair em with a soft dome-dayton probably -crossed at 3k maybe. I'm not sure how to model this, I've thrown it into winisd and i'm not too sure if i trust it. But any enclosure recommendations for a project like this. I'm gonna start off with mains and eventually make all of em identical for each channel for my ht. Music is priority however.
  23. New H/U in and everything sounds awesome... The Leviathan is a great amp. He got the bass bug now, I am building a box for a Mayhem 15 for his 4-runner. Power is Cresendo 3500... Stay tuned..
