SSD vs Q Sealed-which is better

Recommended Posts

Im looking at getting 2 subwoofers. Trying to decide between the SSD10, SSD12, Q10, or Q12. This will be a sealed with about .9 to 1.2 of airspace-haven't decided, depends on subs.

Between the SSD and the Q which sounds better sealed/louder in sealed.

What options would be best. I have read the descriptions of the different wires and still dont know what peaking is meant to be.

-what effects will the flatwind coil or copper have on the power handling and sound quality and loudness. Peaking? better for sealed?

-Is the BP option worth it in sealed.

Will any of the options help reduce the subs heat in the seal enclosure.

The subs will be sharing the power of a kicker zx1500 or the zx2500.

I really appreciate feed back. Will be ordering soon.

It looks more like it would be between SSD 12s or the Q10s with the appropriate airspace. .9/1.2 for the SSD12s or .6 for the q10s

I can't speak for the Q's, but when I got my 12 ssd's copper option I tried them in a sealed box about 2.2 cubes after displacment on a zx 1500. They sounded good and got loud, but were a lot louder ported.

i have a Q18 sealed 8 cubes and i love it. if you listen to a wide range of music and care about how it sounds, then i would consider sealed
