187 15" Passive Radiator?

Recommended Posts

Nick/Josh,

I had a question about the 187 15" with use of a passive radiator, the radiator in question being the Exodus Audio PR15. What volume enclosure would I want to use with the passive? If it's close to the current box I have (2.2 before displacement), what would I want to tune the radiator to?

I'm asking because I would LOVE to have another 187, but without a better electrical, that's not going to happen and with a PR, I can keep my trunk and still gain the output of a similar ported box.

Thanks in advance,

Kef

Before you even start to discuss passive radiators, you should know the rule of thumb when using them is to double the cone area of the powered woofer. In this case, dual 15" PR's.

Use 2 15" PR's MINIMUM. Volume is the same as a ported box just you don't need to worry about losing the 2-3 cubes in port volume.
