The xps actually gain output. The 270 will do like 274 at 19-21 volts and the 390 does over 400 at 19 volts. The biggest thing is heat which is why a lot fail when ran at higher voltages the xps can do it though because of their stator design and rectifier.

Just take a normal HO or standard alternator?
