Alternator output/amps

Recommended Posts

Realistically, how big of amps can I run (D class) in total wattage on a 136 amp alternator? I checked the specs for a dodge diesel and this is what it said of the output. After looking at the number, I'm thinking I'll only be able to run one sub and to incorporate two of the channels for the sub.

Have you done the big three? Voltage at amp x amps from the alternator. if you had 12.5v x 136amps=1700 watts x eff. of the amp .85= 1445 watts.

This is just a example the voltage at the amp is a key part.

Thanks! would there be a place that sells brackets to add another alternator? I saw a thread on high output alternators but not for an extra one.

the power that was stated does not represent what the vehicle itself also needs. if that alt wasn't used to power anyhting in the truck then it would be correct.
