Box Help for Sa-12s Aero Port

Recommended Posts

Okay, so i am wanting to build a box for my two Sa-12s.

The width of the box is 40"
The height is 13"
The depth is 16"

The total box volume without subwoofer displacement or port displacement is 3.709. Im trying to get a frequency of 35hz. I want to go with an aero port but im not really sure what would be a good size? I did the online calculators and for a 6" aero it would need to be about 12" long. My only concern is if this is going to be enough port area for two Sa-12s? If its not what could i do to get a good port area for theses subs?

What amp are you using?

6.0" diameter = 28in^2 port area (not taking into account flaring properties)

With 1000watts, 35hz tuning, that puts you near 25m/s port speed, that's plenty good and we haven't even considered the advantages of the flared ports.

Green is 35hz, black is 37hz.

The above is from: http://box.bitpusher.in/enclosure/ using T/S specs here: http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/products/subwoofers/item/sa-series.html

I should note that I didn't calculate your net enclosure volume after the port displacement but this is something you want to do as not accounting for port displacement will raise tuning and change numbers a bit.
