merlin 2130 by us amps

Recommended Posts

Ok I have two of these amps. One from 93 and one from 95. I have some questions about them someone may be able to answer.

These amps have different boards. I assume because they are 2 different gens. 93 is a bit more compact than the 95. Both boards have the areas where it seems more components could be added to make them 4 channel. Is this possible or just dead spots on the boards?

Next, I see conflicting info around the web. I realize these are 65watts per channel at 4ohm and that it is not reccomended to go any lower. Fine, good, whatever. I am wondering if they can be bridged at 8ohm. I have not installed them yet so I cannot test them myself. I see some places they cannot be bridged and other places they can be. Just was wondering the truth

The 93 is going to go into my escort to power my re audio re6.5s. The power plugs on these things are tiny. Like 10-12 gauge. I stripped some wire off of some 8 gauge I have laying around and soldered it into the terminals. :fing34:

i would think that its just a dead spot in the board or the board itself is shared with another amp, maybe not even a US Amp product.

Well the 2130 and 4160 boards look identical minus the components. But I wasn't sure if something in the boards layout was different.

I should say I've seen a few pics of 4160s and they share the same sink and the board looks to be the same.
