Hey fellas quick question, I was talking to co-worker and he was telling me about Obcon subwoofer enclosures. So I looked them up. They are using a concept called labyrinth porting. I ordered a Sundown SA-12D2 a few days ago and the recommended eclosure size is 1.75^3 tuned to 30 hz. The box I'm looking at is 1.8^3 tuned to 38 hz. Has any used these enclosures or heard some one that was using them. If so just wondering what your opinions or impressions of them are. Your opinions are valuable to me because of everyone's knowledge on this forum. Thanks ahead of time for any opinions. So I have heard to get optimum spl out of my box and best proforance out of my sub I would have to find the resonant frequency of my car. So I fired up the SSA forum seachers and i didn't come across so I imediatly fired up the google machine and did some seaching and here is my findings: I can use math by: Now you measure the distance from the cone to the meter(the whole path it takes). remember the soundwave comes out of the front of the cone at 90 degress(straight) and out the back at 180. once you get the distance from the cone to the meter placement in inches, you divide that into 13,560. you will probobly get a high number, which is suspected. never heard or owned a 4th order, but id like to spend weekend building one for my sundown x10. Can anyone help me out with this? maybe help me with some designs or advice. i have it in a 1.6 cube slot ported box tuned at 34hz. sealed off from trunk firing into cabin. for my tastes it is not tuned low enough, i was going to snatch everything out and go with a 2 cube box at 30hz. but ive been reading about 4th orders and im really interested in them now. would a 4th be ok for a daily with this sub? goes in dodge charger so i have plenty of trunk space, and can provide max deminisons if needed. i also have the sub specs if it helps. ive read to go with the 2:1 ratio with …

I am currently trying to make my doors more rigid. I was going to use 1/8" thick aluminum bars but I do not want to weld them to my door skin as I will have to repaint my car. I was told I could use pl premium but I have no way of clamping them down for 24 hours. Here is my solution I was going to just coat the inner skin of the doors with multiple layers of fiberglass. To get this to stick to the skin I am kind of clueless. Would sanding the door with a heavy grit prior to fiberglassing be enough?

Well, it seems that i will be getting these subwoofers a bit quicker than i thought.. Haven't order them quite yet but i decided that getting a ported box design ready couldn't hurt. Trunk Dimensions: Height = 19" (So i was thinking box should be around 17.5" maximum) Width = 36" (Narrowest point near the back seats) = 47" (More towards middle of trunk) Depth = 36" (Need room for battery, amplifiers, ect.) I am looking to get a 15"or 18" to go into a sealed box for sq. Leaning towards the 15" at the moment. Car: 98 Mustang Location: Trunk Amp: MTX te1501d (birthsheet @ 1 ohm is 1556 rms @ 13.8 volts) Wires: 0 gauge on big 3, main battery to second battery in trunk, & from second battery to sub amp. 4 gauge to highs/mid amp from second battery. Stock 130a alt. but I'm getting a 270 Mechman and xs 3100d( will be under rear seat) when i order the sub or shortly after. If i go with the 15 the box will be 26.5L x 26.5D x 11H about 3.5 cubes before displacement. Sub will be upward firing. I'm tossing up the idea of the 18" but don't have experience with 18's. well the time is aproaching. '06 seasoon ends in 4 months and my senior year (and project) starts in about the same time too. I will be running in Street B, equiptment is as follows. I just bought 4 sheets of 40x55 at 1/8" thick(or something like that) of nuprene off of ebay for 40bucks. Supposedly its used in boeing airplanes and such. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP..._Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT Does anyone know anything about it? it's got to be worth over a buck a square foot so I'm not really worried about getting ripped off. I would like some input on building an enclosure for 2 ZCON 15D2's. The max cubes available for the box is 7(3.5 per sub) after displacements. I want to tune at 31hz. I have seen the recommendations SSA's site for enclosures but would like to have some outside information on how well these will do in 7 cubes . They will be running off a SAZ3500 at .5ohms. Thanks.

I have a 2000 Toyota 4runner.. Throwing in 4 old skool 15" ROCKFORD FOSGATE HX2. Sorry, I had to put the name in caps for respect!! Anywho, I got some measurements here... I want the box 40" (width from wheel well to wheel well) x 36" (length from back seat to back door) x 20" (from bottom to top). So measurements are 40"x36"x20", outside measurements (roughly 16 cubic ft) . Here are my questions... Has anybody had 4 15" subs facing down towards the floor and had rectangle port facing up? My reason is, if you look real close at my pic, you can see 2 6x9 Kenwwods bolted on top of box. Also, I usually haul wood and crap for my work and would really hate to get a sub busted…

now... this is my first wall that i will be doing. and i am not to sure on how to go about starting. i already have a cardboard mock-up of the false floor...but thats it. my car has alot of wierd curves etc, so im not sure how to exactly "measure" my deminsions. so how would i get a volume? i will need someone to design 2 ports for me as well. basically, how do i start? any info is appreiciated. its 4 DCON 15"s off of a sax1200 here is some pics of the rear. its going BEHIND the 2nd row of seats.

So the Mag that is coming is going to need a worthy home in April's alero. I'm thinking: Shooting for 1.75ft^3, ported to 32hz with 18in^2 of port. Only going to feed her ~600rms @ 4ohm (Lanzar Vibe). Woofer in the rear corner, port running fwd and venting into the center, amp (the white thingy) frenched into the glass 'in front of' the port. ok so i've got an sp4 15 on the way. its going in the trunk of a 94 lincoln mark 8. i've built a box already thats a tight fit to get into the trunk and its only 3.5ft^3 tuned at 33hz. ive got plenty of trunkspace left the problem is getting anything bigger thru the trunk opening. so im coming to you guys for help/tips for building in the trunk. so what would be the easiest was to assemble in the trunk?

i measured from the subs to where the mic go's and got 7' give or take an inch. so 7'x4=28' gives me the 1/4 wave devide 1131 the speed of sound by 28'= 40.39Hz so i port to 30.39Hz - with cabin gain should peek @ 40.39Hz but what about the ports fireing 90degrees out of faze, ??? subs are pointed forward into the back of the seat & the ports are fireing up along the back window line. i drive a 1988' Ford F-150 x-cab

I hope there are a lot of wall or has-been wall users out there that can contribute to this thread. I'd like to see some suggestions for wall users on increasing their spl potential. I am about to seal my wall up soon so after i do, won't be too much more moddin possible in that area of the car. I'm lookin for 155s hopefully. I'm wanting to stay in Modified 3 in MECA and i am assuming they'll qualify me for that class... I have a scion tc with a wall behind the b pillar about 5 inches back. Alright, well as stupid as this Topic sounds, i have had a lot of questions from other people and myself. When you are building a box we all know that people don't just use 1 layer of MDF, they use 2-3 in heavy applications. In my instance, building a wall. So when i first started thinking/building my wall, i asked a older friend of mine (who is an aerospace engineer) to help me with building this. The only reason i add this in is to try and explain that he isn't a complete idiot. Hello everyone. I am redesigning my enclosure for my 15" ethos for different mounting options. When I use the Torres calculator I am using the total net feature with 3 cu ft and also 3 common walls since it is a slot port. Using a port that is 4x18.5 at 56" long gives me a tuning of 31.94 hz and 74 in2 of port. Then when I use the same size port in the carstereo.com calculator it tells me 48.5" of length is required to give me 32hz tuning. So my question is which one should I use. In sketch up I am designing the port by measuring down the center. Thank you in advance for the help.

Im getting some nice port noise with those 3" 90* PVC elbows in the SE enclosure. I was wandering if it would be worth it to swap out the face and put in a slot port instead of thse 2 3" Aeros ? If so, would anybody be willing to help me with the port. Only things i suck at are ports and alarms external is 29(w)x17(h)x9(d) Id like to do an L style, but if thats not possible labrynth is just fine. SE depth is 6 3/4" Tuning: low 30's ( if possible)

So after using the Torres' box calculator I have come up with these panel sizes Sub diameter: 14.125” Top: 33 x 16 Bottom: 33 x 16 Sides: 15 x 14.5 Front: 33 x 15 (double baffle) = .21cubes disp Back: 33 x 15 ________________ According to the calculator I am left with 3.55 cubes for a sealed enclosure... Does that sound right? The lumberyard near me said they could make the cuts for me.... Any quick and calculated responses are much needed... Thanks -Danny

So last time I entered an spl I tied a guy with two 10" solo x's and a rockford fosgate t3000, and there's another in 2 weeks and im sure he will be there. I dont want to risk damaging my sub by upping the gains or voltage any more than i did last time, but perhaps i can adjust the box/ place it in my car differently? The box is a little over 4^3 at 31, and it is about a foot back in my trunk facing into the car. Only ideas i have now are putting 45's in my corners to help flow and raise tuning, and face the sub towards the trunk. Are there any little tricks anyone knows about to give me just a .1 or .2 db gain?
