Glad I went down and picked up the 12 from you today, sounds louder than 3 P3's on a T3000.1, even with the prefab box. I am getting a box designed, will you be able to build it for me if I give you the sketch-up??

  2. hi , i am wondering has anyone tried putting a 15" icon in a sub up port back type enclosure in a trunk car. i would really like to use a 15" but my trunk height is only 15.5 inches high so this is the only way that i can think of.

Some backstory about me..... OK, I've been into audio for a few years. I always ran what the locals consider inferior or off brand subs. There's just something great about running paper cone house subs (adire audio shivas) and beating everyone in town in the spl comps I wanted to improve on my previous score of 148.7 on the dash using 2 shivas. (The meter was a terrasonde xmeter that I suspect measures about 6-8 db higher than a TL) I ran 2 S15L7's for about a year and only hit a 150.5 on that same meter. I was still the loudest person in town, but I know in the spectrum of spl comps, that setup was a joke. I decided to build a wall that summer. Well, after some tr…

Reposting to see if I can get it to work for him. So last night I took around an hour or so to write up some huge review on my new pair of 18'' Sound Solution Audio Xcons. Unfortunately there was a url glitch and the thread is gone, so I will try to sum up my product review instead of another 5000 word essay. The SSA Xcon is an amazingly solid driver that has absurd amounts of low end output (off little power might I add) and still acts incredibly responsive, the sound quality of this sub does not hold back its ability to "get loud" one bit. I feel that the Xcon is a very under appreciated driver in today's market, so luckily for you all interested in this sub, I'm taking…

I have had my Dcon's for a while now and I must say I am very impressed with how loud these little 10's can get while sounding great at the same time. At the time of thier arrival I did'nt really have the money to get a custom enclosure made so a friend of mine sold me an dual 10" audioenhancers enclosure he had laying around in his garage. He showed me the specs of the enclosure on the internet (3.18 cu. ft. at 33hz) and I figured that would be fine for them. Since i've had them I've always noticed that they hit the lower low notes but did not produce as much volume from them as I was expecting without me cranking the gains on my head unit. Today I finally checked the sp…

Hows it going fellas. Let me preface; I've been running my 2) 12" GCONS in the DC-Creations 1.35 ft^3 Sealed Enclosure @600W RMS Each (Kicker ZX1000.1) for quite some time now with absolutely no issues. I love these speakers and the DC enclosure is dynamite; not a single problem whatsoever. Like my previous review stated, they're loud, clear and rugged as hell. I had previously ran a couple of sets of 10" and 12" Type-Rs with this same amp and they just couldn't hang; ended up burning up multiple subs over the years. The GCONS have always stayed cool even after countless 5-10+ hour road trips. Anyway, I've always wondered how they would sound and how loud they'd b…

Aaron and I decided it's time to set up some real office space / storage space near me up here in Northern NY. Below are just a few shots of the space we have setup so far. I cannot show all pictures for obvious reasons. Thanks for all who support us!

Hi guys, After lots of research I decided I'd really like to get the Icon 12. I'm most likely putting this in a prefabbed box so I need to make sure it will fit. Does anybody have the magnet diameter for this sub? I see the mounting depth but not the magnet diameter listed on the product page. Thanks!

So i have 2 icon 10s sitting around at home. Not using them. But my car won't support an amp for two. So i am going to build a box for just 1. I was talking with a friend who builds boxes all the time. And we were talking about a box for one of them. I was thinking sealed since i listen to all types of music but i like to get loud too. But he seems to think that a 7th order box would be best. What do u guys think? Has anyone but an icon in a 7th order box? J/W thanks guys

  14. I'm curious what the main sound difference would be between a 1 vs 1.25 cu ft box tuned to 30 hz? I'm trying to build a custom box in my fusion against the passenger side wall in my trunk. I can maybe get 1.2 cu ft if I run the port outside the box, otherwise I'm looking at a net of closer to 1 with a round port. Alo, how important is it for the port to fire out on the same plane as the woofer? Would it be ok to let it fire out the side toward the rear seats with the woofer firing across the trunk? Thanks

  15. So I drove to Sumter today and met up with Master Yoda for the test and tune. This was my first try on any meter and I really had no idea what to expect. I was kinda worried I might get over there and embarrass myself being a virgin and all. Here are the results 148.55 @ 36hz sealed legal 146.10 @ 40hz Average on music 148.67 @ 36hz Peak music I am always pretty conservative with my gains and noticed zero clipping on the TL meter and also got some suggestions to help improve on this. Yoda is putting this on again in 2 weeks and I am curious to see what I can do with a little tweaking and maybe a little turn of the gain. Not too bad for a first time rookie running SQ sub…

If you put 2 12's in the same box same power which would sound better? I know its going to be kinda biased but i am debating between these two subs.

This sucks!! I told the guy at the audio shop to use as much trunk space thats possible for my zcon 15' but i jus picked up the box nd i still have like 3 inches in length in space... Atm its a 4.0cu ft but wouldnt those 3 inches even make it better? Nd its tuned at 32hz! That box cost me 260$ i'll post some pics up soon!

Hey, here very soon I will be buying an xcon, the problem is i drive a 1995 honda prelude and the trunk is not very big at all and to put a 15" in the trunk i would most likely need to build the box inside the trunk, and I've been through that before, it sucked. my question is how much of a difference would there be between the 12 and 15? it would be hooked up to an saz 1500. thanks Jordan

I'm new to this forum and after much research I'm 99% sure that I am going to go with a dcon 12 for my ford fusion build. My goal is sq with as little room taken in the trunk as possible. The sub will be running off the 300 watts of a jl 500/3. The only thing really holding me back is the box design. I want to go with a sloped box that follows the contours of the seat to keep the enclosure tucked under the rear deck/cross beam area. Nomore than 7 inches t the top and 12ish at the bottom spanning the length of the trunk area. Now, I keep reading that this sub really wants to be put in a ported enclosure with a low tune, but I'm not sure if that can be achieved with my s…

  22. Direct quote from DIYma: I just installed a 12" Icon in a sealed nder the backseat of my silverado. I have to say that SSA you guys did an amazing job with this one. One of the best drivers i've heard without a doubt. I'm running it off of a JL 500/1 and I absolutely love this thing. It's only been played for about 2 hours so it still needs some time to break in. The transient response and accuracy is amazing, much better than the W7 and comparable to the W6 but with more output and much better lows. In the sealed box i have now it reminds me of how low my Type X hit in it's ported box. It just eats the lows up no problem. It blends so well with everything even though i h…

After a long time debating what sub I'm gonna choose, I decided I'm gonna go with an Xcon 15. My question simply is, whats the ideal size for a sealed enclosure for 1 Xcon 15. I have a Crown Vic, so I have plenty of room. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if i could get my icon reconed to an 18. I know you don't have them on your shop or site but i was wondering if you could do a custom one. If not how much would it be to get it reconed to a 15? It is a 10" d2.
