I'm planing on building a new sub box and was wondering what would be the best way to get the mdf cut? Box will be 36" wide X 18" high X 16" deep I know I have to take 1.5" off some measurement but what would be the best way of doing it? I will be getting the mdf sheet cut at Home Depot. Thanks EDIT: Does this sound right" Front/back 36" X 18" top/bottom 36" X 14.5" sides 14.5" X 16.5" and the port is also 16.5" high I just having a hard picturing it in my head.

With my car falling apart and things being broken I'm done with my 18. I currently have the image dynamics 6.5 component set in the front but they wouldn't sound that good without a subwoofer. I can probably get 3-400 for my 18 and the box. With that budget what can I do in the front to make it sound good and still hit decent without a subwoofer. My amp puts 50x4 at 4 ohms, 100x4 at two ohms and 200x2 at 4 ohms.

Hi, So I just placed a big order for my dream system off of SSA, consisting of 2 15" SSA Icons, a Crescendo BC2000D, XS2700 and stickers, The subs will be going in a Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, I will be removing two seats in the rear and have dimensions of 22" H, 30" W by 34" deep. Ill be getting DC to design me a box, just wondering what tuning I should ask for and where to put port if subs are on the top plane? I want something fairly balanced SQ to SPL but more to SQ side definitely. Love hitting the Lows hard and want to push lots of air. (if possible) Mostly looking for tuning recommendations for those subs in a cabin like the Dakotas, and also port placement, Thanks…

Searching through my local craigslist and stumbled upon a TW5 13.5 for $75. It however has a large crack in what I believe to be the dust cap? I've just never seen a dust cap made out of a material like the one I'm looking at which arises my suspicion as to whether or not it is actually a dust cap. Through my googling, I read that re-coning JL audio woofers is strictly done by JL audio. If this is just a dust cap issue, I can fix this myself correct? I've heard of people using epoxy/silicone for this process. Obviously I would like to fix the crack in the woofer and use it. Is this as easily fixable as I suspect? Thanks for your time! Here's a photo to explain more in de…

Sup fellas, i think i might have a big problem, was inspecting my subs (2 fi btls 18"s) and noticed tiny tears on one subs spider, 3 of them 2-3 millimeters ea. when playing the subs hit hard, who knows how long they've been there, but i know i dont want them there, could i use some epoxy or super glue as a temporary fix, i know that they might need reconing (bought them the end of 08) but they both still bang hard plus they the old ufo model so i dont know if they even make recones for those any more. cant get new subs till after christmas so i need help.

When i hook up components and wire them to my amp, does the crossover unit that comes with them split the power between the two? my amp is 70w per channel does that mean my tweeter sees 35 and the woofer 35? Is it possible to just use all four channels for just my front stage? when the set is rated at 100w rms does that mean each piece can handle that or are the 50w each?

So I finally installed my cheap Rockford components (well tried too) and they don't fit. Every place on line says that my jimmy has 6.5s but these are just barely too big. So since I already have them do i need to buy different speaker housing or can i just cut out a circle of wood, glue it to the housing and then screw the speaker to that?

  11. Hey guys , So , I bwew up one of my tweeters (playing with my x overs while at high volume , I know its stupid!) and since I'm changing I want to adress a annoying door-resonance I've got @ 2,5khz , I've had a peerless 830987 3inch fullrange paired with a 7inch before and I liked it , but I want better/more highs system consists of an Alpine 117r1 along with the h100 processor , an Becker energy400 4x100Wrms amp , AA havoc carbons mounted in the doors and in the back an AA SMD 18d2, 6.2cuft tuned to 27hz at the moment but tuning will change in near future. I've narrowed it down to : tweeters- I can get a pair of Hybrids L1pro pretty cheap I know of a pair of Pioneer TS-S…

I'm considering purchasing a 12" Icon. I'm currently running two 12" Infinity subs with a Kenwood amp (KAC-9105d 900w rms x 2ohms) and need to know if it has enough power to make this Icon sound decent? I want to upgrade amplifiers but don't have the money for everything right now. I would run this single Icon in a sealed enclosure (I'm not a big fan of "boomy" ported enclosures) and would like for it to hit hard on bass drums, accurately reproduce bass guitar, and respond well to industrial and electronic dance music *I know, I'm asking for the moon* the occasional drum and bass ect. . . all being able to be heard going down the freeway with all the windows open. So,…

So my system was stolen out of our mini van but the left the 7" touch screen, it was all old stuff been saving this year to replace it next summer anyways. But I got sick of not having any bass so I got 2 Phoenix Gold QX 12" for $20 off a friend and I picked up a Phoenix Gold QX180.2 and Phoenix Gold ZX350 for $65. The 180.2 will run my kappa (witch are running off the deck right now) in the front door and the ZX350 will run the 2 12" @ 2 ohms. Now my question is, if I would build a box for each 12" would it sound the same as one box for both 12"? The reason I want to build 2 boxes and not one, is I'm planing on putting one box on each side of the van and build a amp r…

  14. So I just finished up my box today, upon installing the subs in the box I slipped with the drill and punctured the surround. It's a decent sized slit, maybe 3/4 to an inch; it runs diagonal. The subs are Fi SSDs with foam surrounds. I've been searching google for a bit now for the best advesive to use and keep seeing amazing goop and rtv silicone being suggested. Which is better? Would some type of epoxy work? And should I put a piece of fabric or duct tape on the back the slit, with whichever adhesive/ sealer?

Hi i'm somewhat new to this forum. I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad cab (crew cab) and am trying to decide with the space I have what setup will give me the best result. I'm really looking for Sound Quality and getting super low with loudness a given as either should get more than loud enough for me. The vehicle will be a DD but will also be a show vehicle/ demo for my installs, maybe a couple competitions if i can find some. The largest dimensions I have to work with are 24" tall, 30" wide and 32" deep. (could maybe go an inch more on height if it would make a big difference in sound. According to RE box calculator I have 8.09 cubic feet after port displacement but without…

I have a 99 cougar with 2 12" l7s on a planet audio aq2500m. they are in the prefabbed kicker box with the side aero port. I have to run the subs at 4 ohms so they arent getting much power so i was wondering if I should: 1.) Try to sell the amp and buy a 1 ohm stable 2.) Sell them and buy dual 2 ohm coils 3.) Sell them and get 2 12" subs but that would have to be in the range of $100-$175 apiece ( was thinking maybe decons) 4.) Sell them and get a single 15 in a nice box but would have to cost around $200 give or take. If i do get a different set up I would hope that it would be an upgrade from the l7s. If i switch subs i probably won't get a new amp. This one isn't too t…

Will be doing 2 in my Excursion so cubes arent really that much of an issue. Which one and why or suggestions of others not on this list but currently looking at RE XXX, ZCon, BTL or nightshade. Going to use Crescendo power 5500s havent picked mid bass or highs for up front either but going with a Pioneer double din more than likely. So any and all help appreciated advise me what you would use and why. I listen to a broad array of music rap, rock, country, metal, death metal, techo, trance and even classical sometimes. Im getting into this game a bit late being almost 40 but its something Ive always wanted to do. Again any and all help setting this project up is gre…

Hey guys, I was planning on getting the Oxygen audio Air-83 3-way component speakers.I liked the fact that they included a large mid-bass woofer, another decent sized mid-range and a tweeter all in one. Also, I liked how they were a component set because i do not know enough yet to run an active system. But the problem is that I waited too long and now amazon don't have them in stock. Does anyone know a comparable set? Like i said before, I'd like a large mid-bass and mid-range, component set with a passive crossover, and i would prefer not to pay through the nose to get them. Thanks guys!

  25. Hello guys, greetings from Romania I need some opinions with a new box for a sundown audio sa12. I'm currently running the sub in a sealed enclosure (1.3ft³), on audio que 2200d at 4 ohm, until it will loosen up a little bit to handle 1000-1500w at 1 ohm. I whant to add that I own a sedan car, and thinking to put the sub up close to the port. So, any ideas, suggestions? Any response will be greatly appreciated.
