My Zed Gladius Install

Who said they are big? The fit right under the seat. :)

One of the amp is bridged currently powering a single ID8, wired in 8 ohm. It's pretty loud but goes into protection rather quickly if bass boost is used. I am going to add another ID8 to run them 4ohm mono to get the best out of it.

Here's the rest of my install.

Sounds like your install is wired a litte "weird".

Amps usually go into protect if the ohm load is too low. Are you sure you didn't wire the ID8 wrong and wire it to 2 ohms instead of 8? That would explain a lot.

I was wondering the same thing...

It's 8 ohm unfortunately I have verified. The positive and negative of each of the voice coils are wired to each others, and the other +ve and -ve goes to the amp. I am probably trying to turn the gain up too much hoping to get more output out of the 8ohm sub. :)
