MB Quart QSD...

Recommended Posts

So I noticed that my right front stage seemed to be lacking lately.

did a close examination...

switched the left and right outputs on the amp to see if it might be the amp... but to no avail.

the mid works o.k. about 1/2 output I'd say... but the tweet is really seems lacking...

did my X-over take a dump?

the little light/fuse seems in tack. heat mang. thing...

IDK... :puzzled:

What speakers? What amp? What head unit? What car?

And on and on. Give us something to work with.

MB Quart QSD 216's 6.5" mid, titanium tweet

Orion 8004 amp

alpine 9855... I think, couple year old competition deck

Jeep 98 cherokee.

X-over's are in the doors, probably the problem...

moisture or something...

gonna relocate them...

tried different tweet cut off points, as they give you 5

but still sounded the same.

Check the crossover "little light fuse". Remove it from the crossover and make sure there is no oxidation on it. I'd suggest using some fine grit sandpaper to get any residue off. I had a similar problem with some MB Q's a few years ago. The crossovers were in the doors, as yours are, which is not the best environment for them. Good luck!!

I would also inspect the connection points of the crossover components...sometimes the solder joints crack from closing the doors. For a broader test, swap the crossovers and see if the issue follows the crossover...you might be able to narrow it down a bit.

i'm pretty certain its the x-over...

and yeah the light/fuse has oxidation on it....

I'll clean it up, and see what that does.

o.k.

got it.

nothing wrong with mid, screams...

so I took the input signal from amp, and turned volume way down, and put it straight to tweeter... it worked just fine...

so I have a loose connection somewhere...
