sound deadening floor scion xb

Recommended Posts

so here is my problem.. Ive never sound deadened a floor of a car but i have done everything else... so i pulled up out my seats and my carpet today so i can get started. well i noticed there's a rubber like matt and Styrofoam stuck to the floor should i try and pull this all up or am i gonna have a sticky mess?. im wondering if putting sound deadener on top of the matt would even do anything beneficial. should i just do the bare metal areas? I have 50 sq ft to put in on the floor and firewall. just trying to kill some road noise.

any help is appreciated thanks a lot

That's the stock deadening, if you really want to take it off and deaden go for it.

will i see a benefit over just putting a layer on top of it? or should it be removed and re-deadened.

If it isn't bonded to the floor lift it up and put it down on top.

MLV is your friend though if you want less road noise.
