Seeking recommendations for dual 500 watt 15"s

Hello all.

While at first this will certainly seem to be just another "what sub is better" thread, I am indeed seeking the advice of those familar with the possibility spelled out in the thread title.

My goals are:

1). Sound quality for multiple genres.

2). Lowest possible frequency response, whether ported and tuned low or sealed in a large dual chamber enclosure.

3). Adequate SPL, albeit valued below sound quality.

4). Would a single 1000 watt subwoofer circumvent and/or surpass the supposed goals of dual 500 watt subwoofers, or would the contrary do so?

I have been considering the 15" Icon, as well as the 15" IDmax for a single subwoofer application.

As for the dual 500 watt consideration, my options seem to be more limited, although some mainstream brands like Rockford offer subwoofers within this power range.
