2-18" NS v.1

Recommended Posts

hello all, i was just wondering what would be optimal box specs for 2-18" Ns v.1. they're both d1's. power to be ran on them is 2 saz 3ks strapped @ 1 ohm .

it says on the website 4-5ft.^3 anywhere form 30-40hz.

i was planning on

10 cu. after dipslacement.

tuning to 35 hz.

16 in^2 per. cu. ft.

gonna go with a center slot port

let me know what you guys think.

thank you!

With that much power you may want to go smaller on the internal volume but others will chime in with more help.

10 cubes is a bit big, but they should be okay. I'd have more port area though. Use this.

wow the port size calculator told me to that min. port area is 268.43in.^2. that's almost 27in.^2 per cube. is this right?!? i've never seen a box with that much port area. :trippy:

The port area per cube rule of thumb is rarely correct when dealing with high excursion drivers. Build the port to accommodate the woofer, not the enclosure the woofer is in.

alright guys been crunching some numbers

car stereo port calc. suggested 268in^2 min. port area for the 2 subs

here's what i got

net vloume= 9.24ft.^3

port area= 283.5in^2

tuning= 35hz.

and it's not center slot port anymore, changed it to L slot port.

the port is 9.58ft^3. WOW?!?!

better?! lol let me know what you guys think.

thanks!

Being an L port vs. a center slot port won't make a difference, just another configuration. :)

i'm going for a daily ground pounder. would this be the port area for it? or is this more for tl?

Port area doesn't change for daily driving or SPL, port function remains the same.
