Project 1998 Acura 3.5RL

Recommended Posts

Started to cover the rear vent today, got half of the job done since football interrupted my plans. I started with duct tape to cover the hole, ended up doing 4 layers of tape.

Next step will be great stuff foam here and other places in the trunk area.

Woke up this morning and decided to do some work, weatherman said the high will be in the low 70's with a cold front approaching tomorrow. Today would be the best day to play with some great stuff foam so I purchased two cans, the first can was used on the trunk hood:

Right after spraying foam:

Over 4 years later and I have a little update for you guys, this car started with a 15" SSA Icon (2010 model) so I only feel it is right to end it the same way with a new 15" SSA Icon. Somebody must of been mad for my lack of past pictures, sorry fellas I don't know what happened to them. I wont get all picture heavy with this build just show the basics, when I get new wheels I will do a bigger build log. Since I only plan to have the car a few more months, maybe till the end of the year I only have cheapo Q-Power 6.5"s up front and a JVC radio Im getting tomorrow. Big 3 is done in grounds, no upgraded power wire to alternator. I might add an AGM battery soon but no need for now, as I barely drive that far to work. Enough of the babbling, it will be playing sometime tomorrow as everything is ran and installed besides the H/U.

I tried to make the picture smaller but it wont change for some reason. This is where my sub has been since November, just sitting in my living room.

Used some plastic clamps to hold my wire to the back of the box, I also applied amazing goop to seal the hole where the speaker wire exits the enclosure.

US Acoustics Barbara Ann amp is wired up just waiting on enclosure so I can add the speaker wire.

Used some rubber feet doubled up to help dampen the vibrations some.

Speaker wire is wired up and ready to play some bass, I know my wire cable clamps are crooked but oh well.

Excuse the dirty engine bay, cleaning it just isn't a priority. large.20160314_125441.jpg.cf42b97176db75

Had to replace the power wire from battery to fuse box as it was old and brittle as well as really short. One ground goes to the frame and the other to the engine block.

I had to replace this ground wire because it was old and brittle, other wise I just would of added on this 1/0 wire to the factory wire.

Had to turn the box around, my trunk is about as loud as the sub with all the rattles and such. Dont want to put to much time or money into sealing it off so I need to figure something out soon. Need to go buy some more spray foam, my roof is rattling like crazy.

Sucks trying to run my door speakers off the radio because I cant hear them that much when going full tilt.
