If I can fit the 8s somewhere While i love the idea of an all SSA 3 way the drivers the site currently have don't lend themselves for that. Unless of course you use the 8's as up front subs and not midbasses.

Morel maybe, I can't remember, but I do remember they used non standard sizes like 9", 11", 13". I myself have never tried subs upfront but I'm sure if they designed subs to be ran that way it could be done.
February 12, 20178 yr Just about any sub bass driver can be installed in the front given adequate space for enclosure build. I've seen at least 2 vehicles with a 12" driver installed in the dash. A Ford Mustang, a Dodge Caravan (I Think). If you count center console front firing drivers you can add a Toyota Tundra and a Dodge Ram to that list running 8" drivers. February 13, 20178 yr I think it might have been focal, they listed them for upfront bass, and they where odd sizing, but it's been a bunch of years since I last seen them listed.
February 13, 20178 yr Morel used to make a lot of shallow design subwoofers, back before they were known as shallow designs. They just used bigger voicecoils with internal magnets and really cheaply made stamped steel baskets that made the design shallow enough to fit anywhere. I installed a few in the early 90s. I have done a lot of installs with 8s, I just finished another dual 8" setup for a 1-ton Dodge last week. Displacement is displacement. There is nothing magical with motor force. If it is a small cone it has to move a lot to get loud. This 8 looks like it will move a lot...
February 13, 20178 yr Author Admin Illusion Audio makes some shallow mount larger cone items. I had wanted a pair for my RX8, but just don't have the budget, or time, or work space to actually work on my own cars. To clear up any possible confusion, this SSA 8, can be easily used to just simply fill out the bottom octaves on a modest system, or can add some strong depth and output to a more advanced set up. Think of it as if we added an 8" to the Gcon model line.

Well that's pretty much what I had in mind, up front taking care of the bass, easing up the bottom end work the mids would have to do a little. Aaron, I know you don't have much information available for them yet, but is there a chance that you might know what you're looking at power handling wise and do you have an idea when you might have the T/S available? I'm ready to start planning things!
