Exactly. The SAE has made a lot of happy customers. Shame that MBQ is just a badge that is slapped on now. x2 MB Quart, Lanzar, Autotek, HiFonics, Crunch, etc, etc still sell these days but only because of their reputation from years back before Maxxsonics took over. I would've rather spent a few extra bucks and gone with the Sundown. I can't believe that people are even comparing the two. What has this world come too?!?! Ever heard the term "You get what you pay for"? Besides.....wasn't MB Quart a high quality German speaker company? Now all of a sudden they build amps that are made in Taiwan/Korea/China (no offense Sundown) with a badge that says 100,000,000 watts RMS per channel @ 4ohm! Same with new HiFonics like the Brutus that everyone seems to be thrilled about. IMO all it amplifies is distortion but then again you really can't hear it at low frequencies. Just my .02

I don't want to have the "baddest ass system"... i want to have a system that makes me happy. If there is a guy on my left who has a better SQ setup and a guy on my right who can hit 180db... i don't really care that my system isn't as good as theres. Sure, i'll walk over and see whats up and what they are running. But i don't get my self esteem and my hard-ons from having a better system than everyone else when i pull into a parking lot. I've been reading you're bickering with M5 for about 20 minutes now on different threads. I usually try to avoid conflict because my knowledge is limited. But sense I've read all the arguing I would have to agree with M5. Stating your achievements over and over and over again is rather annoying. It's in your signature. We can see it. And you often fail to answer M5's questions... i don't remember what thread it was... it was the one where Impious chimed in. I have no personal experience from them but they both seem extremely helpful and intelligent when it comes to this stuff. I mean, on the forum homepage they hold the top two spots for most supportive. They know their stuff. I would like to say the same to you... but in my opinion, you haven't exactly proven that. You have said some good, helpful things. But then alot of the time some dumb-ass comments come out of your mouth. Like the whole notes below 25hz in daily music thing. Just take M5's comments. Sure, he doesn't exactly have Santa Claus like cheer, but he's got knowledge. And i feel like you do as well but you're hiding it. Either that or whoever really set-up your truck has the knowledge. I respect your competitive spirit. But gloating about winning just makes you seem immature. And i definitely respect your relationship to Blues car audio. Better luck on your truck. My explorer back window had a water leak itself (funny how that happens when someone breaks your rear window ), luckily no equipment was inside. If there are any comps near Michigan i would love and come check out your truck.

Stop with the win garbage. No one gives a fuck. Prove yourself with your comments, not some "award". And your setup will NOT satisfy the OP at all. Considering you are looking for beyond reference levels I'd contemplate some horns. I don't mean some pro audio bullet crap either, but something like a set of ID's. They will do more than you need level wise and can be made to stage and sound great as well. If they are possible that will limit the 8's you can pair with, but a 2 way is possible and can reach your needs.

If you want monster midbass I'm not quite sure kickpanels are what you want. You'd probably want a larger mid, maybe an 8 incher. I believe most also work best in a large IB application such as the door, although making a hole in the back of the kickpanel can help. But others should chime in more about this as I've never messed with kick panels myself.

It's an unfortunate part of society now. Hence the reason we get everything from China. People don't care if it breaks; it's so cheap they can just throw it away and buy new. The newer people in the audio industry don't know about quality. They just know what the big chain stores feed them and the mass marketing giants of the larger companies. That being said, the last gen of Zed Audio amps were an absolute steal. Mr. Mantz is selling amps just by his reputation and those that know him, know what they are buying. Those who don't just complain about the price.

Hopefully this time I can make a decision. I have a 2004 Tahoe, listen to mostly rock, rap, and blues, and want to have a two-way active front stage (finally decided to stay clear from the 3 way active front!). I want to mount in some kick panels, both the mid and the tweeter, which I will either buy from Q-logic or just attempt my own (which is what I am leaning towards). My budget for drivers is up to $500, although I don't think I will need that much. I guess they will be pretty much on-axis and for this project I am considering going more of the SPL route, beyond reference levels, with low distortion which I guess is now referred to as ""SQL"" (even if it doesn't make sense ). I am really after some authoritative midbass, I just don't feel the kick drums like I would like to experience them. At the same time, I am hoping to keep the tweeters a little softer, mine are quite harsh right now. Any input would be great, just really looking for a specific set up. I haven't experimented with a lot of the DIY drivers, and really don't have a lot of cash to throw around trying all of them. So if anyone has similar tastes and loves their set up, recommendations like that would be much appreciated. Oh, and my sig shows the processing I have although the sub stage will change soon, probably tune the box a little lower and different amp. Lemme know if I forgot anything!!! Thanks

Please keep in mind M5 that I am a competitor this year (truck broke or not). If I give off all my secrets to this truck. I might get my butt handed to me in competition. I would like to win a few more times. According to my scoresheet from last years world finals, My front stage was spot on the way it should be. That part will not be changed. I'm just trying to score better points on installation. My whole concept to this truck is to be very competitive with NO processors and minimal sound dampining. It feels very good to beat out those EXPENSIVE systems.

Wow M5, I wouldn't have an attitude if you would quit talking negative all the time. I do have a few questions for you though, Do you compete? Have you ever been to a World Finals event?? Have you ever been on stage with some of the best competitors in the world? Do you know what its like for your "under $4000.00" systen actually beat some of the best competitors in the business? Has a person on your team set a World Record number in spl competition? Can your system play notes under 25 htz? I can answer yes to all of these questions. Can you?

I've tried to explain everything about my truck. You are correct. Installation is 50% and equipment is 50%. That myth about rear speakers is something like you said in another post about 12s not sounding better than 15s, or 6 1/2s can't be made to sound better than 8s. Anything is possible sir if the installation is correct. Installation and Equipment can not work without the other. The guys that helped me are proven to be the best in the competition world. Mulitple time world champions. They know what it takes to win. We've proven that. Impious made alot of sence in his post and I very much thanked him for that. That man knows his shit !!! Alot of people want good sound. ALOT of people want to be the best in car audio. When you pull up into a parking lot, you want to have the baddest ass system there !!! I only give suggestions that I use myself to be the best in my game. They are teaching me what it takes to win. Compared to amps today, Linear Power is not expensive. Just very good electronics and have a VERY long use life. As for BluesCarAudio, well, the car audio world is in for a shock.

man i want that challenge to go down sooo bad. I don't mind being proved wrong and having M5 loose, i just want it to happen.

tell me how to tell the difference bw rms and max watts in this part ....please .... that all i saw so i responded....... i dont need to look up the specs for him.....

Knowing Chop he has already calculated for it, actually you dont do any calculations (the subs displacement is zero, so the only displacement you account for is port and bracing if any when mounting sub inverted). I hope you were kidding, displacement of a sub isn't zero, it depends on the sub. The displacement of this sub is probably around 0.23 cu ft or even more. Nice build, i like the box with rounded edges. And i like the sub, real beefy.
