I know i don't frequent here much ....but i thought i would stop in and show some love for the Zcons! Steve's set-up was quite nice and VERY effecient! Got down on only a 1200D! I'm sure Aaron won't mind me spamming this here

Thanks for the correction. Most people compared 9887 to pioneer 880prs so are there any new model Pioneers that are active capable... p.s. there's nothing wrong with the alpine it's just that alpine is the only thing i've run and want to switch it up and try something new. umm... totally illogically dude. the 9887 is way ahead i terms of quality and function compared to most "new" single din's on the market. im not exactly sure what the differences are between the 880prs and the 9887 but i doubt switching would be of any benefit. with the 9887 you can do a 2 way plus sub or get the add-on, h701 IIRC, for a 3 way plus sub..

Everyone, Go to Adobe website and update your Flash. There is a vulnerability with the current flash player and it allows executables to be ran by just visiting a site with malicious code. I just got owned by it...

Easiest way for any amplifier would be to utilize basic Ohms Law and work backwards. First thing we need to find is the voltage the amplifier produces. The reason we need to do this is because in most (not all) modern amplifiers the voltage output the amplifier is able to supply will be the same regardless of the impedance of the load connected to the outputs (this is an assumption). With Ohms Law we can use the formula sqrt(Power * Resistance) = Voltage. So sqrt(1100*1) = 33.17V Now we can use that voltage to guesstimate what the power output would be at 4ohm with the formula Voltage^2/Resistance = Power. So 33.17^2/4 = 275w. So, in a perfect world, the 4ohm power would be 275w. Now you'll notice the end result is the same as just dividing the 1ohm power by 4, but I thought it was more beneficial to walk through the steps using Ohms Law as it can then be applied to any scenario. In general most amps will be rated to about double their power every time impedance is halved (see below) for basically the reason that (ideally) the voltage output will be the same at any impedance so as impedance is halved power output will double (which is easily enough verified with Ohms Law). A couple caveats to this: Obviously this isn't going to work on amplifiers that are intentionally designed to supply the same power into different loads, such as the JL RIPS amps (the Slash series) or the Alpine PDX amplifiers. Both of those amps (and similar designs) will intentionally adjust the rail voltage when connected to a different load, so the rail voltage (output voltage the amplifier is able to supply) won't be the same at different impedances. Second the world isn't perfect, neither are amplifiers. For starters there are some internal losses in amplifiers for various reasons and these losses become more significant as the power output increases (increases in current running through the amplifier increase heat and heat losses, components within the amplifier are running hotter, etc). On top of that, some amplifiers have a weaker power supply that isn't able to fully support the amp as the power output increases. For these reason, and some others, often times as impedance is halved the power output won't truly double. So the amplifier may actually be rated for 350-400w @ 4ohm, even though using the above process we guesstimated it should only be able to provide 275w. But even then the difference between 400w and 275w is only about 1.6db, so not really much if any of an audible difference so our rough guesstimate is "close enough". On the reverse if we know the amp is rated 400w @ 4ohm and we want to know the 1ohm power we can use the above process. sqrt(400*4) = 40V 40^2/1 = 1600w But again, due to the losses in the amp, the ability of the power supply to support 1600w, etc etc etc.....the amplifier might not truly be able to output or be rated for 1600w @ 1ohm, it might only be rated 1000-1200w.

What budget are you working with? What electrical upgrades have you done/can you afford to do in your vehicle?

BroP, you don't need to listen to all these old farts. They just afraid you going to be louder than they are. What you need to do is fuck what Fi says about tuning. Turn that box to 80hz and turn that weak ass subsonic filter off. Play your shit loud as you can. Make sure to get dual 1 ohm coils on your BTL so you can wire it down to .5 ohm for ultimate power. Post vids.

I like DC Audio amps and wouldnt mind getting one along with Everest Sound Labs (they seem to be getting a lot of buzz lately). Im not to fond of Crescendo Audio and there customer service so I wont be using them again, I have nothing against there amps. I could care less about spending money or saving money, I buy what fits my needs (space, power, reliability, features and the companys' customer service). You cant talk about Sundowns prices, like Jacob stated plenty of times his company is not an internet based brand that sells directly to the customer. If he wanted to he could and his products would be a lot cheaper to fit some poeples needs or wallets. Not justifying his prices or his company just stating facts on why it is what it is. Dealer based companies will always have higher prices then internet based companies, no matter how much the products compare to one another. The one thing I do respect about Sundown is he was having great success with Zenon boards and then started seeing companies imitate for a cheaper price, and what does Jacob do about it. He just re-tools his amp to differentiate them, while other companies are sticking with the previous boards (where's the innovation?). Honestly who cares what the next person will run in there vehicle, I didnt know now days that I had to justify my product purchases with the next man.

installed the 6.5 comps and 75x2 rms 2 channel amp today in my dads f 150. ill give something of a first impression. the only thing i can compare these to where the 5 1/4" polk db coax's installed prior and a set of pg rsd comps in my car. however my doors were deadened and his are not. its kind of late so ill make this short for now. ignore my grammar.. im sleepy the mids were mounted in the doors, tweeters were also mounted in the doors. the only decent music i had on hand was some pearl jam greatest hits. pic from google the tweeter is mounted behind the grill in the lower left. i used the angle mount and aimed them up towards the mirror/upper dash. we were in a bit of a hurry to finish up so i didn't get a chance to determine the best way to aim the tweeter. the first thing i noticed was that the tweeters are really bright. his headunit has a 7band eq which i used to make some cuts across the top. also had the tweets at -3db on the crossover. i think the problem is the mounting location/aiming. other then that, the tweets aren't too bad. i forget what the pg rsd tweets sounded like, i know i enjoyed them more then the polks. imo the aura tweets are more detailed then the polks and a bit more aggressive then the pg's. maybe after some play time and re-aiming they will calm down. i think the woofer is really were you get some good value. it's unfair to compare the pg's in a deadened door vs aura's(no deadening) but i think the upper hand goes to the aura's. i set hpf to pick up where his sub left off, about 70-80 hz. midbass is solid and on a few songs i got some buzzing from the door panel, too bad these weren't installed in a deadened door. the mid range is pretty average but possibly better then the pg set. i need to listen to some better music first. overall, i would say that the aura components are better then the pg rsd's if you can take the tweeter a bit. this set is a great value for the money. and a possible recommendation to anyone with a budget as high as 2-3 times what the aura's cost. the aura amp is fucking sexy as hell. looks like great build quality and i would recommended them! if you guys have some questions, post them.

TC Neo motor with Fi soft parts. The motor is good and the soft parts are good, but without more info we have no idea if they actually make a good combination. Personally I wouldn't buy it unless he were at minimum able to provide full T/S parameters for the subwoofer.

Yep, dont even have a plan. no designer on here feels confident enough to make me a design. so ill build the biggest enclosure i can and see what fits. The 18s "can" use so much space, that your going to have a hard time making an enclosure too big in that car, just once it's done, try to figure out the volume, then make your port. It surely wont be too big. if i can get 18 cubes ill run 3 18s if not ill have a very efficient wall for 2 18s. ( I bought 3 just incase) Oh man, I bet you wish you could see the look on people's faces when they read that. Ha didnt think of that. im nobody special, if i can afford them... They really arent that expensive.

They really arent that expensive. No I agree, CA just pulls in a lot of young people with no money and really shouldn't be spending all their money on subwoofers, so it's extremely expensive to them. Where as if they were an average person with a steady income, then it's really not that much.

I just paid for them so I'm anticipating about 3-4 weeks. Should give me time to finish the wall and figure out amps.

I thought this would be a cool thread where we could post some cool trailers coming soon... I've been doin some research on Gareth Evans(Director and Writer)... He's only made 3 movies so far and his latest two are ridiculously crazy martial arts based movies! His latest one, The Raid- Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Genre- Action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWlmhMSnVdM

Here is my 2000 camaro SS i bought a few weeks ago. not wasting any time making it better! Car has a ton of bolt on performance goodies as well as suspension goodies. T-tops 6-speed. Im sure gearheads worldwide are going to hate me for this but **** em! Its my car and i bought it to do exactly this. Im not going to lead on too much about all the equipment im using for this build. All im really going to say is the ZCONS are on the way!!!! Its going to be hell fitting 18+cubes, batteries, and amps but im up to the challenge. Here is a few teaser shots untill real progress is made. My buddie Chris helping me out before the last USAC show. getting it all cleaned out!! On with the box build. Im shooting for 18 cubes. Thats all i got for today. hope to make more progress this weekend
