Help me with some passive crossovers...

Recommended Posts

I want to go passive over active right now because active seems way more expensive considering that this will be my first component build. But, how do I get good mids and tweets to sound good with the crossovers? JimJ said that these crossovers won't work too well?

Amp: Crunch PowerZone 4-Channel Amplifier (PZi175.4).

Sub: Dayton RSS265HF-4 10" Reference HF Subwoofer 4 Ohm 350w RMS.

Tweets: Morel MDT-12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter 80w

Mids: Dayton Classic DC130-8 6" 50w

Crossover: Dayton XO2W-3K 2-Way Crossover 3,000 Hz

Another question, will this ^ sound better than this: Pioneer Components, TS-C160R

You can't. Either buy a set of components or go active. If you really want to do passive you must measure your drivers in situ and then develop a crossover that is custom for your application. A custom crossover will cost significantly more than an active solution so it really makes no sense.

So then buying those Pioneers or in even better set of passive components will be much better than my set of passive components unless I go active?

It all depends on what your ears tell you. Go listen to some and tell us what you like.
