Factory sound deadener

Recommended Posts

Getting ready to do a little sound deadening this weekend. This is going into an 07 Altima. Do I need to remove any factory deadener that is glued to the floorboard or any other place. I'm not talking about any jute carpet or material that can be easily removed with my hands. I know that some cars have factory carpet/rubber like padding on the floorboards, does this need to get removed or can I just deaden around it? Thanks.

Thanks!!! :drink40: :drink40: :drink40:

Not sure what Nissan is doing lately, but if it is firmly bonded I'd leave it there.

If your talking about that black asphalt looking material, I would leave it on and go on top of it. When I deadened my trunk I removed it all and it made the process so much longer with much more labor, which was prob not worth it.

Here's my log with pics if you want to compare material.
