Bad Ground?

Recommended Posts

Blew the power supply in my amp. Had it fixed and just installed the amp back in. On zero volume there is a loud alien like sound as soon as i turn on the headunit. Could this be a bad ground? My right mid fell from its baffle and the frame was resting on the metal door. Did this ground blow something else? Thanks for any input.

Steve

I would re-check all wiring and door speaker installation. Would rather spend the time troubleshooting than replacing or repairing amps and or head unit.

I have been research this topic and I am coming across the pico fuse topic. Is this the true source of the preout problem? I turned my system on today and when the RCA's are disconnected from the amp the noise completely goes away.

there is a ground fuse inside that blowes when the ground is at diffrent levels.... send it in for repair and then ground the case well with out using the factory wireharness.

Yes, the pico fuse you are talking about is the internal ground fuse on the RCA's that blows easily.

No. Ground loop iso will not fix it.

The pico fuse will have to be replaced.

You can do it yourself if you feel up to it.

Its not to terribly hard....

You can replace it with a 1 ohm resistor as well if you choose to take it on yourself
