Pushing the limits of stretching vinyl?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... so I'm thinking of what kind of vinyl I need to order to cover my door pods, but I don't think I'm going to be about to cover them without cutting the vinyl at least once or twice.

My problem is that the speaker baffles stick out at a wide angle, and even with the fleece I had to cut it 2 times to eliminate the huge wrinkle in the back. The part that I plan to cut will not be too visible, it will be the part on the back of the speaker pod facing towards the floor (even with the door open, unless someone gets down there and looks).

So my question is to anyone who's tackled something like this can you give some advice? Would I be better off taking these to an upholstery shop and having them french stitched or something? :turkey: Thanks!

Here you can see how steep the angle is on these things

I don't know how far that would help your application, but there is something called stretch vinyl. Maybe you could try to find a small piece and see how much it stretches?

I just got to know there is also something called "super stretch".
