In ceiling speakers ??

Hey guys, im helping out a friend( older) put a nice HT in his new house.

Only 1 problem....the wall that the t.v is on is short and tower speakers would sick out on the sides of the entertainment center.

I'd like to keep it fairly cheap, we have a budget thats in the mid range.

I will have specfics on friday since me and my bro are gonna check it out.

I have acess to most of the mid end HT speakers around my area so i can eaisly check them out and demo them

You guys have any reccomendations ?

the imaging is going to suck...considering the point sources will be facing down instead of at the listener.

What about wall brackets?

Good brackets or good speakers?

Any larger bookshelf should work...unfortunately, you're not going to be able to wall-mount a tower or horn

If you going to do anything HT, why do it cheap with a budget. You dont want cheap sound.

Most decent ceiling speaker come with brackets for pre-contruction and retro-fit.

I'd strongly recommend Speaker Craft & Niles

Because sometimes good sound can be DIY'ed for a fraction of what it costs to buy commercially. An example of this is my full range speaker project - retails for around $850, I'm putting them together for around half that

As for ceiling speakers, I haven't the faintest idea what to use...

just remember in electronics, you get what you pay for.

I used to install home audio, so i'm speaking from experience, but everyone has different tastes in what sounds good and what doesn't.

*update*

i took a trip to a local rip off shop ( good guys) and had a listen to their in ceiling speakers.

They had quite a few so i was happy with that.

Now, to the nitty grity...

They were all basically Klipsch, which i have no problem with except the price.

1st i had a listen to the 8" IC, was pretty nice, definetly pumped out the midrange and some low end. http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=847

So...i went further down the line to the 6 1/2" IC with the titanium tweeter. These sounded awseome except the titanium tweeter was very bright.http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=845

Lower and lower i went the less treble/less vocals i heard.

Tweeter wasnt as harsh and they were just a bit cheaper. But... i dont think there on ebay so i might have to get the titanium ones.

treble wasnt as nice, sounded nothing like the higher end ones. Bass wasnt as pronounced either.

Now, would you guys put the CS-650-RSM in the back and the R-3650-C in the front ?

They werent THAT bad, but i wouldnt use them for a front stage.

The swivel tweeter makes such a difference, i moved it away from my ear and i couldnt hear any treble at all !

If you still are into the ceiling speakers.. you can use the KEF in walls that I run in my HT. Five all together (two rears [in the ceiling], two fronts [in the wall], one center [in the wall]). Model number is Ci160.2QS (http://www.kef.com/kefamerica/products/ciseries/ci200qs.html). They sound pretty damn nice and the price is pretty affordable.

Now...just need a reciever and a sub.
