CDT tweeter/crossover with DD audio mids

Recommended Posts

I wanted to make use of my DD mids and put them in the burb doors.

I dont have any tweeters or a crossover so i contacted upstage audio about some CDT ones.

He offered me the tw-24 tweeter with 456 crossover for a nice price.

My question is, will my DD's with a dcr of 3.5ohms pair up with the 4ohm tweeter and crossover without any problems ?

He also offered me an orion P series crossover instead of the cdt one. I have no idea if the Orion would be better. I think the Orion mids have a lower dcr, somewhere near the DD's...could be wrong though

please excuse any spelling errors, i cant get it down pat today for some reason

I just checked my CDTs they are 3.5 ohm. Now, the 456 x-overs (i have owned them) are kinda flimzy. Make sure you arent constantly moving and unhooking them, they dont seem to be a durable as the satnet 560's that I currently have sitting in my room. They will work fine on either set of x-overs really.

If they end up not matching very well, you could surely add a driver load compensating circuit either via a CR circuit or an L-pad type circuit. Hope they work out without them though! Let us know how it goes.

what about an active crossover and going active,

What about the cost....

Going active isnt exactly the cheapest thing in the world
