15' or 18' subs

Recommended Posts

space problem

in my trunk i can create a box with external dimensions: 28x16x40 inches. It means 9.8cuft. I have 0.8' wall thickness and remain 8cf Vb for speaker. In this case i have 5.5-6cuft for speaker and 1.5-2cuft for port.

I know for one 18' sub i need 7cuft , but my question is: I can create a box with 5.5-6cuft ? I can tuning it at 30Hz and works properly ?

(If not i buy 15' and i create optimal box)

thanks

18s tuned that low on minimal box size like that isn't all that smooth.. You may hear it fine, but you won't have that earth shattering bass like you would expect that low....

And.. tuning that low is going to require a LOT of good bracing!

So....solution is to go 15 'inches in optimum box and tuning it at 30Hz, compared to one of 18' that will sing louder but not as smooth / clear?

Thanks for answer

Ok, I go to one of 15' and I create optimal box.

Some recommendations (""""SQL"""" daily 15' driver, who can sing low frecv) please? (400$)

Thanks

Any reasonably well built driver in a WELL designed box will fit your needs.
