newb to car audio, i need amp help. BADLY lol

if everything is done right and you have the enough power, there will be some boom.

and when you get the multimeter, put it in your glove box and leave it there, its what i do and say if your car wont start, you can check the battery, see if the alt is charging, etc. Its good for car audio but much more too.

thats just it tho, i dont think i have enough power. i need someone to look at my car, there are so many things that a trained eye would look at and say thats your problem but i dont kno enough about it to kno

The bolt that goes through the ring, does it bolt the ring to bare metal? The ring ABSOLUTELY HAS TO HAVE BARE METAL TO METAL CONTACT /caps lock off

You can also use your dvm to check voltage at your amp and to check if your ground lication is good.

what specifically do you want pictures of?

ground location, how the wires connect to the amp, etc. just random stuff that maybe doesnt look right to us that could possibly help us diagnose why the amp shuts off. personally i think it is heat from the too low of ohm load or just pure stress from pushing the amp to its limits.

i agree with you, the amp gets so hot that you seriously cant touch it and as soon it shuts off the "protection" light comes on

well that amp is rated at 4 ohm mono for 1100 watts..... soo....

first thing is first. make sure they are indeed dual 2's

then you need a new amp. somthing that put full power out at 2 ohms.

IF they are indeed dual 2's

but you need a new amp anyway that one is a piece of shit. . its RMS 550 watts.. not anywhere near 1000 anyway.

so i would replace it anyway no matter what.

Before recommending new equipment you should recommend methods of checking existing equipment for malfunction and improper install. Since the equipment previously worked in a different instsall lets examine the current install and equipment.

we got to that the info was out of order, regardless the amp is sub-par....... perhaps thats why hes running the bass at +6 and perhaps the previous owner was aswell..

then the culprit is most likely heat causing it to protect, is your amp bridged? and you might want to try going easy on the amp and see how long it stays on on a small load rather than trying to get it really loud. and monitor the temp of the amp.

i got you.

yea looks like its bridged. You said they were wired to 2 ohms, so 2 ohms bridged is to low of an ohm load. That amp only allows 4 ohms bridged. That low ohm load could cause a lot of heat depending on how hard you are pushing them.

edit: for the time being, i would re wire the subs to 4 ohms each (each sub in series) and then wire 1 sub to each channel. its all you really can do to make it proper and most likely not overheat.

okay so i lowered the bass boost and the L+ a little

twenty minute round trip to get some dominoes and i had it CRANKED to test it and it didnt shut off

Aren't you glad you didn't go out and buy a new amp, lol? Is your amp 2 ohm stable, manual says not. Will it still function if used cautiously, probably.

When you get to the point of wanting more output investigate alternative amplifier options. By then, after educating yourself, you will be better suited to make an educated purchase based on your requirements as the listener and your budget.

Make sure you read through all of your manuals. You can tweak your system a little here and there but drastic levels like high bass boost are normally a no-no unless your system is designed for that.

Your next phase, sooner than later, is to properly adjust your amplifier gain. There are many technical and not so technical ways of doing it. Research different methods and choose one and go with it.

Due to your box size, it is probably best to have port back or side. Port forward might yield sub par performance versus the other two options. Play around with box placement as well ie: more to the left/right or more forward.

FWIW the trunk latch proved to be an awful ground back in an old install in my stratus, i've avoided that spot since. It took me about 6months to locate the problem too.
