Help with e8 v2 d2

Recommended Posts

I made the port 3x8x17. I think im still short on size for 4 e8 8's put it sounds way better. It plays most songs very well. This shows me that my calculations was very off. So i will start making new box tomorrow 2.4cf and add the extra space needed for port displacement.

Thanks for all your help guys!!!

When you tired the system sealed did you lower the infrasonic filter, or play with the high and low pass?

I haven't modeled the e8, but I have to believe they will work well in half the recommended volume. It would come down to what you want out of them, what you like sound-wise.

I was under the assumption that you had used the available space with the 2.4 c.f. enclosure, is this not the case?

If you can maintain the 2.4c.f. a 3" x 8" x 17" port will give you ~36 hertz tuning.

If you shrink to 2.1 c.f. , the same port will tune to ~39 hertz.

Let us know how it works out.

Here is the video of the box and set up. Elecrical is terrible. I never had an amp like the 2500 that sucks up all my power.

I made another box.. At 1.8cuft for 6 of these and been messing with freq and subsonic filter and it sound really bad. Like subs are choking. No low frequencies or no impact bass. Just distortion. Im really getting tired. I never had subs that where so box dependent. Im not sure why sundown lists them as .28cuft if they dont perform at that. Im other forums i seen people using sealed box with 1cuft or .75 cuft each. I guess im going to try again with a port box. No luck with sealed.

We have many customers running them in the suggested boxes and are very happy with them.

You won't get a ton of impact from 8s in a sealed box -- that application is more to just fill in the bass a bit.

We've always had excellent results from 0.6 vented on them -- impact, sound quality, etc.

Try using only 3 or 2 subs in the current box, block off the other cutouts to see if you can find the volume per woofer that you prefer.

Maybe these subs just aren't for you. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I have made the same mistake in the past. I had no reference to what the "other people" thought sounds good.

i hope you can get this sorted out!

Make sure your subs are not wired out of phase! Easy to do when wiring up that many woofers.

Thank you for response. I tryed that box sealed at 1.8cf but im not sure if because i have subs facing towards the front in a crewcab silverado. Maybe i needed to build a box with single cambers or i missed something. I was not able to get good bass.

My other box is a 2.4 cf after port it came down to 2.0 so im short on space (forgot to calculate space for port) is sounding good. Subs sound like 10s or 12s and even hit lower tones better then most subs i owned. So im really happy with them.

Im buildingy 3rd box right now at 2.9 cf after port it will be 2.4cf with proper area port and it should bang great.

I am very happy with sundown and i was not upset at all. Im sorry if i sounded upset. It just that i wish the .28 cf would of worked iny truck as it says on website. I had 6 of them with a 2500 and no luck.

I am not a great box builder and i wish there were more guildlines for the subs.

For example .28 cf not so impact , .75cf sealed optimal or 1.25cf max bass for sealed box. Some instructions that come with subs like jl or kick have all that info on websites and not on forums. So all the info u need is in the box. For my 6 subs i did not get a instruction manual. Maybe for experienced senior installers its not needed but

For general public we really need more guildlines.

Thank you for response

And Keep uo great work !
