What cable to get for AVH-P8400BH?

Recommended Posts

I just bought an Pioneer AVH-P8400BH and needed advice on which cable to get for iPod/iPhone functionality. The Pioneer website has conflicting information. It says that for App Mode, you need the CD-IU201S but regarding USB iPod/iPhone Direct Control, it says to use the USB interface cable CD-IU201S or CD-IU201V. The "V" states its for iPod/iPhone and the "S" says its for iPod/iPhone 4th generation. More details are below about the two cables. I do have an iPhone 4S and an old iPod.

CD-IU201V

CD-IU201S

  • Enjoy Advanced App Mode for iPhone® 4/4S or iPod® Touch 4th Gen on your AVH-P8400BH
  • USB and RGB Connections for Audio/Video Playback and Access to Compatible Apps.

Thanks in advance!!!

Without looking further into it, one says it is for the 8400 , and the other says 4400.

Agreed, BUT it also says to use either cable for USB Direct Control for iPod/iPhone here:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P8400BH

Pioneer's AVH-P8400BH is ready to roll with direct connectivity to your iPod® or iPhone® for music and video via the optional USB interface cable (CD-IU201S or CD-IU201V interface cable sold separately).

I just don't want to get one cable to find out that a device won't work on it. But my guess would be the S model like you said.

Why not call or email Pioneer directly?
