what to buy?

Recommended Posts

Kinda in a dellema ATM. So my 2 front speakers blew the other day (jbl got 628's 2-ways) so I put the factory ones back in until I figure out what to do. Thing is I got em from best buy and they no longer carry any car audio (in Canada anyways) so they sent me to future shop for a replacement (I bought a warranty so I get a free swap). Annddd future shop doesn't carry those speakers butt they can swap them for something else. So I'm not really sure what to do. Im kinda on the fence on switching to components (leaning more to the I don't wanna side) and am going to buy a 4 channel amp soon.

If I was to swap them:

So my question is..is it worth swapping them for the alpines and just be done with it or should I just take a gift card instead and buy something better on sonicelectronix?

I've heard those are actually pretty good and very reliable if used correctly.

They would be great, cuz from what I hear I wouldn't have to do anything to the door for them to fit. The jbls were in on only 2 screws. Would the last long on an amp? With the proper rms?

They're rated for 80 rms. you really don't need a 4 channel amp. A low powered 2 channel would do suffice.

Swift on here said he used them(I think components though) for a long time.

I'm still a little confuzed on 2/4 channel amps...if I get a 2 channel and down the road wanna upgrade to components then I could still use a 2 channel?

Unless you want to run the components active meaning each tweeter and mid bass speaker on its each channel. That allows you too cross where you want. If you run the components passive you only need a 2 channel because your running the midbass speaker and tweeter on one channel.

If he can get the R's they are a better speaker.

He could if he buys them. From what I understand, he can only swap them out for the type s coaxials.

If he has extra money I would upgrade to the spr-60 speakers.

I could switch for whatever I want but I'd have to pay the difference. I got a 80$ credit for the speakers (that's what I paid for them) so I could put that towards anything I want. Thing is...is there really anything there worth spending money on?
