Port facing front or back?

I have a Fibl 15" firing upwards with a port on the side of my box. I was wondering what would make it louder in the cabin of my car? Port facing me or the rear? Don't know if this will help any but I have a 2010 malibu

Im sorry, my port isint on the side of the box, it's on the back of the box.

depends on too many variables for anyone to just tell you a direct answer. BUT, its almost always better to have the sub loading off of a surface. So towards the rear is the likely answer.
