Proto SPL sub fun... need your suggestions!

as stated previously... the SPL proto 12 is on the way here... and after I do the offical business related testing for mark.. its time to have some fun...

post what videos / testing you want to see..

power... isn't a problem we'll have 4 sundowns, and 2 memphis 4kws on tap...

vehicles... gotta suv, hatchback, trunk car, and crx on tap..

boxes... aren't a problem.. we've got 20 sheets of wood, and saws..

Which hatch? Is it the Aveo? If so, 2 cubes @ 55Hz 4 external 4" flared ports if you could. Start with 1 Sundown at 1ohm, then strap 'er down with the 4kw's and find out what it'll take with proper down time between burps.

What kind of other ideas might you have in mind?

well... I'll do the standard frequency response testing sealed, and ported, in a couple designs... to get a feel for the peakyiness of the driver... and see where inductance kills top end.. then we start doing power testing..

free air sine waves for extended periods.... the current bar to beat freeair is 2kw for 6 minutes (dd 9510)

in box, 8kw for 1 minute (FA MF 12")

and we'll do the special testing that you all want to see.... then we finish up with failure testing..

My only advise would be......to make sure a fair sized LSQ box gets tested as there will be alot of people I am sure wanting to run these for DD situations as well.

That was my other question...how are we going to test its limits when it could go poof once and that's it. Makes me sad to think it.

I also imagine this suckers got some serious Le and other compromises for Spl. Im not too concerned over any SQ that might be obtainable. At least that's what I hope for - a no nonsense, value spl driver.

I will have the other prototype, so if there are things that Loyd does not want to build or test, I can take a stab at it. No I will not have the 4 sundowns, but at least an Orion 2500D, with a possible 2nd one near by.

I think a single one of these in a wall, ported with a massive port would be kinda cool, but a lengthy proposition.

Maybe a tiny box with 2-3 BIG external aeroports?
