SSD Install

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Limited with full stock charging (124 Amp Alternator i believe). I wish i had the dough to upgrade the alt and batt, but i make 6.85 an hour 11 hours a week during the school year. I'd like to think this isn't bad for a 17 year old.

We'll start out from the beginning. Three days after I got the car i put in Hifonics 1206D and a Premier 3002SPL. Blew the sub due to rookie mistake usage of the "bass" knob. i then picked up a Kappa 12" and that sounded great at 2 ohms til i blew it, but that sub i got for almost free so it wasn't a big deal.

I decided to really save up and do it the right way this time. I got a Premier DEH680 for Christmas from Sonic Electronix. I also ordered a Kicker ZX350.4 and two sets of 6.5" Infinity Kappa Coaxials. I love the Kappas and they sound great for my use. Maybe an upgrade to Crystal SSCS6 and a ZX550.2 is in order, but the whole money thing puts a damper on it.

I contacted a guy off ecoustics about a month ago (C.Free on Ecoustics is a great guy) and he sold me his 2 12" D2 SSDs and his Kicker ZX1500.1. I bought a prefab sealed box from a buddy of mine who bought it at Best Buy. Paid a good price for it so im happy and it's a solid box.

Now to the good stuff. Pics. Don't mind the pics. Off my brothers Sony Walkman phone and theyre actually pretty good. My dad lost his digital camera link cable.

The Whip, so fresh and so clean

Premier 680 with wire run hidden to my ipod. I like being able to control my ipod from the actual ipod, not the HU.

ZX350.4

ZX1500.1 haha I love matching amps.

Both amps. Wires were cleaned up a little bit more and look 100x with the seat leaned back the way its supposed to be. Wired up two blue neon tubes to glow the amps. Feel kinda queer with em, but theyre cool when im showin off my trunk.

Two 12" SSD D2s. Mounted em like that bc i like it haha don't hate.

Finished Product.

I reallly like my new system. At first the speakers didn't sound great without bass before the subs, so i went almost five whole months without bass, haha needless to say i missed it.

I hooked em up and started jammin. Threw in The Inspiration by Young Jeezy and bumped to Hypnotize, I Luv It, and Mr. 17-5. They sounded awesome and i then went to my 125 song list of bumpin songs ranging from Smoke Two Joints by Sublime to In Da Club by 50 Cent to Numb/Encore by Jay-Z and Linkin Park. These things slam.

I was considering building a tuned box for em before I got em to make em louder. Had no idea they'd be this loud. Some people may be used to two ported BTLs or four BLs or some rediculous stuff, but this is a daily driven Cherokee and I am DEFINITELY very very happy with the product. SQ is perfect for me and they compliment my speakers incredibly well. At times, the bass overpowers the speakers (hence me thinking maybe some front comps) but for now and for this summer, I am really going to enjoy bumpin'

Haha THanks Fi Car Audio, really great products. I didn't deal directly with you, but these things are awesome. Even my mom had to admit they looked pretty cool before i put em in the box.

Also, Sidenote, wires are a Kicker 0/1 gauge kit. I ran 0/1 gauge to the ZX350.4 just for fun, figured why the hell not ahah. Pretty useless though, but whatever. Also found out that Knukonceptz is about 15 minutes from my house so that worked out very well.

PM me sometime here or theres a better chance ill get it at SKIBUM12189 on Ecoustics.com....thanks for reading, please leave some input

Thanks for the review and pics. Im glad you like them.

Not sure which box he is sending you as I design a few everyday for people, but just looking at a generic yours vs 4.5 @33, youll gain 7 dB or so around tuning and itll taper down to be similar in output at around 75Hz. Decent gain... but twice the space.

Thanks and keep us all posted,

Scott
