Q15's Enclosure

Recommended Posts

This is the box I came up with, but just by the numbers, I don't know what the response will be like and how smooth it will be.

Box: 44"x18"x20" (outer dimensions) and 37.5"x16.5"x18.5" (inner dimensions using 3/4" mdf excluding port)

Port: 4"X16.5" slot on left 18.5" long

That should leave me with ~6.6cubes before displacement and a ~33hz tuning.

Subs are running off of my US Amps MD2 at 1 ohm. ~1800w rms

What do you think?

6.6 at 33 will peak up around 45 Hz. If you can squeeze out 8cuft at 30 Hz... I think you will be happier with a little more depth slightly flatter response. Coming off of sealed Qs is hard... but you will be MUCH louder.

Dual tune at 45 Hz might be nice to... will peak hard around the vehicles resonant frequency for those occassional SPL runs :)

Thanks,

Scott

I will probably jump to about 7.6-7.8cubes tuned to 30-32hz.

Thanks for the info!

I'll probably go with 7cubes @ 32hz.

Actually.....

Box will be 44 x 17 x 22 with subs firing up and ports firing back. It will have four 4" round x ~15.25" flared ports. So the box is 7.81ft^3 before port and woofer displacement.

It should sound good.
