College setup...

Recommended Posts

This is my current setup here in my house in Manhattan (I'm a junior in EE at K-state).

Speakers: Magnepan MGIIB

Amplification: QSC CX 902 for the sub, QSC Powerlight 1.0HV for the Maggies, and an ART SLA-1 just there...

Preamp: Behringer T1953 w/ upgraded tubes

Crossover/EQ: Behringer DCX 2496

DVD/CD/SACD player: Oppo 981-HD

TV: Currently cheapo 27" CRT, will have a ~37" LCD HDTV before the end of the month

In the mail are two Mach 5 Audio MAW 15's for the substage, haven't entirely decided on the configuration that they will be in yet.

Overall I don't think its too shabby for a college house, don't mind the mess currently I just had to re-arrange everything tonight and haven't got it all put back up yet.

On to the pictures.

The Basement

Of course, since it is a college house, gotta have the wetbar in the basement...

I see Disaronno. That stuff is amazingly good. I used to drink it all the time. Now I'm to poor for it. I just drink Margarita's on the rocks now ;). Oh and Miller Chill it's fuc*ing amazing if you haven't tried it

BTW nice setup ^_^

Nice gear. Those Maggies would love to be further away from the wall though.

*looks for wall treatments

I would love wall treatments, not going to do it in this house, or in this basement.

I have yet to play with the placement of the Maggies, they were just put there last night and haven't had time yet.

Thanks for the compliments though guys. :)

The DCX unit I reallllly like, the preamp not so much but it works alright for now.

I hear ya- I run a pair of the DCX's myself. I don't think you can find a comparable unit for twice the price.

Glad to see my Adcom went to some good use :)

What's on the other (right side, facing the bar) side of the basement? If I had that space I'd probably face the Maggies down the long axis of the room...with the two MAW-15's in a stereo pair.

You mean put the maggies at the skinny end of the room pointed the long ways?? (for lack of a better definition)

In the top picture you can see where the hex little white pad is on the wall, there is a door that extends to there for the basement bedroom so they would have to be pretty close together. I may try this anyways and see what I think....
