is there a difference between freestanding and plate amps that i should know about?

Usually a fan and that is about it. Considering it is a Dayton it may be cooled passively though as it isn't a pro audio amp. The reason I want a plate is it is easier to hide in the living room, I have a big p-a Crown for the home theatre room already.

yea i know but they're fairly close to the border, that may be why.

Im building the sub today, Fi Q 18 in a 8 cube box, tuned to 20hz, hopefully low enough
