PC Help Requested; Computer Geniuses Enter Here

Recommended Posts

Alright, for some reason my "setup" won't run for any program. The message error I get is

The Win16 Subsystem was unable to enter Protected Mode, DOSX.EXE must be in your AUTOEXEC.NT and present in your PATH

Ok, well, for some reason my AUTOEXEC.NT disappeared a few months ago and I was having some PC problems. So, I whipped out my Win 2k disk and added the autoexec file back into the C:\WINNT\system32 folder, and the problem was temporarily solved. Now, this is happening....and both the autoexec and dosx.exe files are in the system32 folder, but the chit ain't workin

Anybody know whats I gotta do to fix 'er? I really wanna avoid reformatting my HDD

Well.....I figured it out

Somehow the code in the autoexec.nt file got replaced with some random gibberish chit. So, I replaced the gibberish with the correct code, and now it all works like a charm

Thanks for your help though :D
