Budget Amp opinion

Recommended Posts

I have a complete budget system that I will be starting as a little project for me. Im a senior in High school with not much money to spend so I'm looking for opinions on a nice budget Amp that will give out about 1-1.5k rms power at 2 ohms (it'll be running to (4) 4 ohm subs). My budget would probably have to be around 150-250$ give or take a little. I'm open to all opinions and come here to ask you guys since no other reviews and forums don't have as much knowledge as you guys ;). Thanks

4 single voice coil subs would wire to 4 ohms or 1 ohm... i assume you mean 4 ohm DVC subs?

you are gonna want that power at 1 ohm, 4 4ohm woofers will wire to 1 ohm, in which case that XT2000 in your sig would work. unless they are DVC 4 ohm subs.

for 1 ohm power: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13492_...DSC+1000.1.html

for 2 ohms: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12120_...+BXi+2008D.html

or check out the f/s section here or ebay for a used amp

I wouldn't touch it. But with you budget, it's going to be hard to find a decent amp. Any problems buying used? That's your best bet.

I'll dig through my "toy pile" and see what I have that may suit your needs.. :)

they'll do good on anything around 1000watts at 2 ohm... I wonder if the amp you have may be able to handle the .5 ohm load? I've never owned/tested a US AMPS amp... maybe try your amp out at 4 ohm for starters....? You may be suprised..
